C3D99E0B-57E8-4154-87FA-64828E43B1F1.jpeg All advice and knowledge welcome! My Betta appeared to be growing a tumor about a month ago. It has grown fairly quickly, and he has been very docile in the last week. Today it appears to have ruptured. Before this, he was very lethargic, but he seems to be swimming more now that it has ruptured. Is there anything I can do??? Will he die soon?

Okay so 1. I see the plastic plants and the huge rip in his fins so throw away the plants and either get silk or live. 2. What size tank do you have? 3. Dose in some kenaplex ASAP for him to heal/get rid of the tumor. 4. Do you know what the nitrogen cycle is? 5. What temperature is the tank at? 6. Any tankmates?

The only thing to do is keep the water ridiculously clean. If the water quality is not PERFECT, his wound could get infected. I would recommend a 25% water change daily. Unfortunately, he might pass away, I’m sorry. Open wounds like that usually don’t end well. Just keep his water quality good, and him as happy as you can.

You can try Kanaplex. It is a medication for open wounds.

He does not have tankmates. That is the angle of the photo. He doesn’t have a rip in his tail. I’ve just looked at a photo of him from the day I got him 2 years ago and that’s how his tail looked. The tank is 3 gallons. I will dose with kenaplex.

I wish we could use that on Fish but we can’t.

It also concerns me that in the second picture his scales appear to be pineconing. He may have more going on than just a tumor sadly. In either case (tumor and/or dropsy) pristine water and kanaplex would be a good idea.

I just lost a betta to this condition, and couldn't treat it myself.
She was just too far gone, and didn't make it through.
I see a large internal tumor, which has just ruptured through the scales.

Yes, he had no pineconing at all until the rupture. Once that happened, his scales did pinecone. The pineconing has since gone down some; however it is still present. Have already treated with meds. Hopefully it works, though his internal tumor is so large I’m worried he won’t be able to live with it much longer.

Here are pics when the tumor began growing rapidly. We’ve been keeping the tank as perfect as we can, but it hasn’t slowed his tumor any.
