Mr. Betta betta got moved into a 10 gallon sump because he was beating up on all the girl bettas in the harem tank. He's really ticked off here & his color has gone.

Little blue flame has moved to the sump on my office tank. She was getting beat up and I had to put her in protective custody.

White crown tail

Still on the hunt for a koi plakat female to round out the sorority.

Also have a white elephant ear, but the sorority tank has medium-high flow.

Have only spent $9 for all 4 female bettas so far.

Mr. Spooky wants to know why he doesn't get a harem tank too?View attachment 430798
I don't know why but for some reason I have found this funny

Got my betta Thief, as one of those 'baby bettas' and when I first got her, she was skinny and I could see straight through her with only a slight pinkish tint when the light hit her in certain angles. I think at one point I was not sure if she'd make it because she seemed so fragile but here she still is. Love her to pieces, she's certainly a curious one, and she definitely is not very picky with food either lol. Sometimes when I hold my snake and sit down next to the fish tank and I let my snake slither around, she will come right up to the glass to greet him despite him being way bigger than her lol. She also isn't afraid to greet my hand as well when I'm doing a water change. The light I have now is flourescent but if I get a tank upgrade for her, I'll look for a bulb that produces more natural light because she is even a deeper purply-red in natural light which looks 100X better than her color now. Such a personality in her makes me hope my furture bettas will be like her. Definitely my favorite one out of all that I've kept.

My new addition! I couldn't resist his little eyes. I just put him in a gallon bowl for now, I'll probably move him into my divided Betta tank in a couple months. Don't worry, it is at a steady 80 degrees and has a sponge filter, as well as some live plants I threw in there.
He is so adorable!! He really needs a good name though.

When your expensive HM Black Orchid Betta (Louis) goes on the attack, but your Walmart rescue Veil tail (Ember) says talk to the fin...besides the Walmart rescue (Ember) lives the Thug Life, with one eye...Nick Fury style!

When your betta and your Oscar can see each other because their tanks are side by side.

They think they should flare at each other, but they're not sure, so they kind of pussyfoot around.

Betta betta (my sump fish) checks out his new heater; then mr. Spooky checks out his new ABS Skybox at the top of the 30 tall.

Picked up this guy at Petsmart on a whim. Never seen a veiltail with such interesting colors. I have a veiltail rescue named Lucky, but the rest of my group is named after the Guardians of the Galaxy in the movies (except I don’t have any females). I’m out of male characters, so I was thinking of naming him Galaxy or something? He’s huge compared to my others. He’s not in his permanent container either btw. He’s getting a filter soon and will be moved to a heated tank in the next week or two. Can’t be worse than his cup, and my house temp has been around 77-78.

I got a betta last week for my desk, not my first fish, but my first betta and the first fish I've had in a long time. Ive been lurking around reading, making sure I do the best for her. Her name is Nixie.

This is mr. Betta betta. I think I am going to breed him soon. I've had him for 7 months.

The first picture was when I first got him and the second picture is recently.

Coloration is all goofy between the two photos and he is really somewhere in between.

Mr. Spooky sees his reflection when he was younger, and now. We've had him about 5 months.

His color changes an awful lot. I tried to get some shots of him when he was very bright.

Sometimes bettas think they are bottom fish.

Betta betta demonstrates, cleaning up any treats left behind by the betta sorority when they Departed.

My baby is finally grown up! First spawn of bettas and this boy is probably my favorite. I love his metallic scales and mask.

This might be like asking what's the best dog in the world where the answer is the one in your house.

Having said that, when I got mine at PetSmart, there was another one that was called a premium Butterfly and he was absolutely gorgeous and healthy looking. The problem was he cost $24.95 and I wasn't willing to pay that much. Mine is a halfmoon and cost $9.95. I'm very satisfied with him and have done a fish in cycle with him and he tolerated it perfectly and never showed any signs of distress. I did do at least 8 33% water changes and one 2 gallon change in the 27 days I've had him in my 3.5 gallon tank. I also used Tetra Safe Start and another bacteria supplement to help things along.

He has a nerite snail and a fairly big Mystery snail as company and all are doing well.

This is my twin tail betta named Lenny. I have had him for about a month now and he has started to be more active then he was when I first got him. Especially after I added some kuhli loaches to his 10 gallon for him to be friends with. Sometimes they seem to annoy him though, they swim around like crazy idiots and rub up against him. I have never seen him flare or attack any of them at all. He seems very very docile for a male betta

Stranger and stranger, my black orchid HM seems to be developing a third color on his lower fins... not a trick of the light, but he seems to be turning red? Sorry the pic is a little blurry, he was flaring.
