Finally got decent pics of most of my boys. Here they are in order of "new-ness."
Edward (had him about a year)...he really is a MG, but this pic doesn't do his coloring justice:

I also have my son's blue VT male, Gordon, in my son's 29gal community, and seven females (six VTs and one CT...although I almost think my salamander female might be an HM 'cuz her fins are just a bit different than the other girls) in my 55gal that's being finished set up (had to move them in there because the heater in their tank shattered).

Here is my new little guy (name to be advised) he is 4 months old and is teeny.. he's abou half the body size of my crowntail.. my crowntail was fully grown whenI brought him from the pet shop so I never expected this guy to be tiny!!




Still waiting for his order of plants to arrive.. LOL the random plant amuses me but looks so wrong

This is Bluemoon, a petco rescue find...Is he a crowntail? His back fin is so different that the other crowntails I am use to see...What do you guys think?

This is my newest boy. His name is Chroma. He seemed more colorful at the store, but I've since grown to like his watercolor nature. Hopefully his colors will perk up as he gets acclimated to his new home. Also, he has more blue than the picture really shows.

midthought, what a pretty boy! how big is that bowl though, it looks small

Oh, it definitely was small, but it was temporary. I did water changes everyday for maybe 3-4 days until I was sure his ultimate home was properly cycled. He's been in half of a 10 gallon planted tank for a few weeks now. I think he's happy now -- he's actually had a good appetite since maybe his second water change in the little bowl, and he's been doing the bubble nest thing for a couple weeks now too. I attached a new picture, but it's actually a lot more planted now than even that. He's also grown a kind of opaque chocolate-colored hat over his head, too. I need to take new pictures of the boy.

Anyways my new betta Cosmo, I got him from a LPS just 2 days ago, he was in a 1 gallon tank with a female beside him, now he is in a 10 gallon tank and is as happy as can be(well atleast I hope)

Very nice DannI - I can see the blue you mention in Isaac now too - well done on a great save, and Lily is a cutie.

Here are my new lot - female Rosibelle has the 10 gallon after Toulie passed suddenly a while ago (still a mystery), my blue CT Spike is my boy in my new 5 gallon (next to my computer, we watch each other as I post ), and Cam is my new VT in the 15 gallon after Bett finally passed of old age last fortnight (he was almost 4 I think).

Edit: you can see Skikes fins are clamped a bit from a rough acclimation - white slime on my new driftwood was the cause i'm sure - but some fungus meds and regular washing in Primed water cleared it arty0049:. So now while his fins are still a bit shredded, he has a LOT more red in his anal and ventrall fins now and the blue is wonderfully vibrant. Must take some new pics - but you can see it a bit in his tank shot.

Wasabi: was known as "Fish" for a decent amount of time. I've had him since...early November I believe. Most if not all of the pix of him are from before his "accident", I placed him in a divided 14g w/ a CT named Ginger, and, no lie, WasabI ripped off his own fins. Destroyed himself. He's in his own tank (meaning Ginger has the 14g to himself, spoiled or what?) and it recovering fantastically. He is a DT HM, from what I've seen he's totally at 180 degrees. He's spunky and loves people, and will follow me around all the time. When I'm in my dorm his tank is next to my bed and he nestles into the plants right next to me.

Ginger: a punk if there ever was one. This guy has so much attitude I can't handle him sometimes. He loves to flare at EVERYTHING, especially my finger. While WasabI will swim through my fingers, Ginger will bite them and chase them and flare. Both my babies have started building nests recently, and Ginger's built his right where he sleeps! (WasabI made his in the corner and seems to ignore it unless I'm near it, which I think is weird.)

The dark blue boy is Pip and the pinkish blue crowntail is my most recent addition, Roi. Roi was having some tank maintenance done so not to worry betta lovers, that bowl is not his permanent home. ;D

Hey guys!! Its me again

I wanted to share some pics of a beautiful double tailed halfmoon betta I found today by pure luck, I wasn't even looking for fish just comparing prices at different LFS, but when I saw this one I just couldn't leave him there!!! He still doesn't have a name lol, you can see how huge his fins are and he wasn't even flaring

New Betta owner here

So I decided to get a fish to keep my kitty entertained while I'm at work and the guy at Petco told me that Bettas were much hardier than the goldfish I was thinking about getting. I hadn't had a fish since I was quite young and now I'm 57, so I'm pretty inexperienced w/fish, but things have improved a lot since then, and now we have the internet to turn to for info, so here I am.

I asked him what all I needed and he loaded me up. Knowing nothing, I decided on a 2.5gal MiniBow (I didn't think I wanted anything larger). Now I read that a 5 gallon is better, but I think my Bernie seems pretty happy to be here. I think he's beautiful. BTW, the plastic plant is gone now. I got some Betta bulbs a few days ago and one of them is starting to show a little green tip today, so Bernie's going to have a nice live plant soon!
