so basically, I am so tempted to get me a Fluval V Spec 19L so I can have a Betta tank.
I keep reading about people who keep Betta with shrimp and have seen a lot of videos.

Really interestig in knowing from people who have previously owned betta, or currently keep betta with shrimps.

Thanks

It really depends as to what kind of shrimp you're interested in!

I would recommend something like Ghost Shrimp (the bigger variety) or Amano Shrimp (Japanese Algae Eater), as they aren't colorful.
I wouldn't recommend colored Neocaridina because they can easily get harassed and eaten by the Betta!

Hope I helped!

I have zero experience with shrimps, always wanted some. but betta is the biggest temptation.

Ghost and Amano are what I had in mind so thanks, as your confirmation does help. I will have plenty of hiding spaces, wood, rock, and so on. I got a lot of black sand subsrtate which I got from my other tank so hoping that subsrtate is okay for shrimps if I do get them.

That sounds perfect!
My first ever aquatic life was a Betta, ghost shrimp, and Amano shrimp. It was awesome.
I hope you enjoy!

No it was not planted.
And by golly, that was 2-3 years ago.
I don't know if I can find it.

It wasn't necessarily planted: I just had some driftwood with an Anubias on it.

Let me tell you my experience with crustaceans.
I have 8 Minnows and 2 northern Crayfish and it is extremely difficult to treat any finrot, cottonmouth or any other fish disease while crustaceans are present in the same tank.
Get yourself a quarantine tank for sure to separate the 2 species during treatment. The shrimp want to molt in peace and not deal with chemicals in water, it causes them stress. Crustaceans often carry diseases esp. parasites that NEVER affects them health wise , they are passive carriers just like Snails are.
There are a ton of meds out there that kill crustaceans within 24 hours. Just be careful.

In my experience, my brothers crowtail betta absolutely destroyed the ghost shrimp he had in there. I think it all depends on the personality of the betta. Before the shrimp he had a blue mystery snail and the snail would never come out after the betta figured out it was another living thing.

One of my bettas let the 1 ghost shrimp live for about a month till I added more. He then cleaned house and decided the nerite had to go as well, luckily the snail had his shell.

On the flip side, I have a Veil tail who lives peacefully with other fish and only ever menaces the filter unit, and assassin snails(moving rocks are just too much for him to wrap his head around lol) When I intruduced him to my 29 gallon community, he slid in seamlessly, and my biggest problem is feeding time(getting food to the others before the piggish betta scoffs it all up)

I haven't yet tried him with shrimp, as my lfs doesn't often get in ghosts...but the advice given for a calm betta was to just make sure that there is plenty of shelter for them in case the betta does decide to menace them...java moss, hornwort, caves, etc

Yeah.
Speaking from experience I honestly say it's worth a try. At least with ghost shrimp (since they're so darn cheap).
Everyone has different experiences because all bettas have different personalities, but it's worth a try.
