He is in a 1 gallon tank, and I don't know the ammonia and nitrates and nitrates. I just cleaned his bowl like two days ago.

Can you please fill out the emergency template (copy and paste and then fill it out)? Also, what did you mean by clean?

A 1 gallon is way to small for a betta. 5+ gallons would be best and 3 gallons is the minimum size (IMO). What I would do right now is this, first, do daily 50% water changes with dechlorinated water, also purchase a liquid test kit (API master freshwater test kit is best) that tests Ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates since determining the prolapse cause is very difficult without knowing the water parameters.

If you can then I would atleast upgrade him to a 3 gallon tank, that way he should have a much better chance of recovering. Most prolapses fall off just fine but it’s best to ensure clean water quality.

It’s definitely a prolapse. Also, since you put betta fix PLEASE do a 60% water change to get most of it out of the water. Unfortunately betta fix and mela fix contain some stuff that makes it hard for bettas to breath. So, I think the bettas issues should atleast get better, hopefully he fully recovers as long as you do these four things
1. Get a 3+ gallon tank
2. Read up on the nitrogen cycle
3. Get him a filter and do daily water changes for two weeks to help with the nitrogen cycle
4. Add in Indian almond leaves to help with healing. The water will turn a light tea color but it’s not harmful to the betta, it’s actually beneficial and if you don’t like it it can be removed a week or two after your betta is fully recovered by doing water changes
EDIT: You may be able to skip the Indian almond leaves but the other 3 things are essential to the survival of your betta. Sorry that you’re having to deal with this issue. I absolutely love my betta and his personality, so I can’t imagine how it would feel to have one prolapse.

I got my fish a new 3 gallon tank, with a filter and he seems to really like it but the one thing is that I am having a hard time to keep the PH levels at a good spot for my fish. Right now it looks to be between an 8 and 8.5. Which i know it's not the best for him. It may have todo with the fact that I am on well water. Does anyone have any advice.

Don’t worry about the pH. I keep my betta around that pH (along with many soft water fish, in various tanks) and I don’t think I’ve had any issues. They’re pretty adaptable when it comes to things like that.

He is acting normal. And I haven’t seen anything from him that was like what I saw at the beginning of the thread but he’s has always had a little bit of loss of colour in his one fin. And it was staying the same for a while and now I have noticed it’s getting a bit worse. But I have put the Indian leaves in his tank and he’s only been in the new tank for a couple of days so I will see how he’s doing in a bit.
