Looking for any reccomendationa or advice for betta care. I have an 8 week old betta fry. He is in a 10 gal tank with a whisper filter and heater. I feed him live brine shrimp and micro pellets.

Bettas are one of my favorite fish that I keep- you probably already know how much fun they are by now.

Questions:

1.What temperature are you keeping it at?

2.Do you know the nitrogen cycle? If not,I would read up on it!

What you are feeding is perfect. Bettas absolutely love bloodworms as treats.

A 10 gallon aquarium is a nice size.

Make sure your filter pull/current isn't too strong-a lot of Bettas have a hard time with it.

Do you have any specific questions?

And congrats on your new fish!!

The temp is 80 degrees, I will read up on the nitrogen cycle. The filter is 1-3 gallon and he seems to be ok with it. I am struggling with brown algae so I will be introducing nerite snails this week.

What type of live plants would you reccomend?

Nerites are a really good clean up crew. I have two Zebra Nerites, so cute and a nice addition.

And I just saw the picture! He/she is so cute!
What specie?

What type of live plants would you reccomend?

My favorite moss/plant are the moss balls, they've been sold in pretty much every pet store that I've been to.

I had the moss balls but I thought they may have caused the brown algae so I got rid of them. I am not sure what species. He is a Petco fish, I bought him 4 weeks ago..

I use aquarium salt to help with stress, will the nerite snails be able to reproduce with this small amount in the water?

Probably not, I think they need brackish water for the eggs to hatch

Ok, phew. Is 5 too many to add to a 10 gal. tank?

You'll probably only need one or two. They're very efficient.

You can keep five in a 10 gallon tank together you don't have to get rid of the rest

He's a Betta splendens like all petco bettas.

I would use a sponge filter with one this young, and floating plants like amazon frogbit or duckweed.

Also he's going to need a varied diet. You might consider adding microworms to the diet, as well as daphnia.
