Betta Missing Scales - Please Help!

I got my betta fish about 1-2 months ago and he is very active. He always notices when someone walks in the room and he has a huge appetite. There are no signs that he might be sick except for one really small white dot on the outside of his mouth, which was already there when I got him and I’ve also noticed 2 more white dots on the inside of his mouth. I don’t think it’s anything serious. Does anyone know what it could be?

It’s probable that it’s ich, a common tropical fish disease that can be treated with API prima fix. Are they flat dots or are they bumps?

The pictures aren't very clear, do the spots have a wool or cotton-like texture?

It’s hard to tell if they’re flat or bumpy but I would say that they're more flat. Also I’ve never saw him scratching on anything which I know is a symptom of ich and he only has 3 of those dots.

No they do not.

So I made a post yesterday about my betta fish having 3 small white dots (2 in his mouth and 1 on his mouth). They are not cotton like and they don’t necessarily look like ich, I also never saw him scratching on anything. Then this morning when I went to feed him I noticed he was missing A LOT of scales on his head. His behavior is still normal. He’s active and has a big appetite. There are no signs of him being sick except for those 3 white dots and now him missing a lot of scales. Does anyone know what it could be?

(I looked it up and some people said it could be a type of fin rot? My best guess would probably be ich but it doesn’t really look like it).

He is also currently in a 2.5 gallon tank with a heater, 2 live plants, one of those rocks he can hide in, and a filter. I recently turned off the filter bc it started getting very loud and obnoxious. I’m getting a one soon and bigger tank (this tank is temporary). I also do 50% water changes every week.

I attached 2 pictures. The first one is the one I took yesterday and the second one is from today.

I'm no expert but it could be whole in the head, I would go to a local pet store with the pics and see what meds they recommend.

Do you have a full pic of your tank. Looks like he got curious and got stuck and fought himself out of a precarious spot possibly the cave and did a little self inflicted damage.
Edit: no matter how loud or annoying the filter is I would leave it running till the new one arrives. No filtration can lead to a lot worse problems.

It’s definitely not a hole in his head, just scales missing and I got some ApI Bettafix so hopefully that’ll help.

So Bettafix is just oil! So with things like this is usually doesn't help much. I suggest it as something to prevent fin rot or treat super mild finrot. I suggest API brand. Hole I nthe head can be very serious. Let me know how he is currently since this post is older and I can suggest some (cheao) antibiotics if the betafix didnt help.

Ty! This was a while back and it actually helped I think, but I’ll definitely never use it again. It’s not hith, I’m assuming he got stuck in what one the rock decorations I had in the tank and he lost some scales trying to get out. I’ll also look into what medications API has if I ever need the medicine.

YEah API usually makes good antibiotics but if they don't work Kanaplex and other ones by SeaChem (the people who make Prime water conditioner) have good results and are stronger.
