Why would my Betta fish be doing this? He keeps laying on the bottom and then tilting over on his side like he's unbalanced.

Can you give us specific water parameters (pH, temp, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates)? Is the tank heated and filtered?

When did this start happening? Any other symptoms?

I need pick up a new testing kit for water parameters but the tank is heated at 78, it has a filter though he doesn't like it when it's running.
It's been happening for just a few days now, I also noticed him rubbing against one of the ornaments. Could it be Ich? He doesn't seem to have any white spots on him.

So you don't run the filter?

An easy solution to that is baffling the outflow. If you stop your filter, you can lose your cycle.

Sounds like it could be water-quality related and/or disease related. Poor water quality can stress fish out and make them more susceptible to diseases.

Please let us know your water parameters when you get a new kit.

How often do you do water changes, and how much do you change?
