Betta Jumped Out And Died

I feel terrible, I have a fluval chI tank and my poor little bubba jumped out last night. I found him dried up on the counter. I don't know what happened. He seemed very happy in his home. He had lots of hiding places and the water was in excellent condition. He would always come to the glass when I approached and wagged his little fins. I had just seen him swimming around before I went to bed. Very sad today

Maybe justa warning to others about the fluval chi. I've had no major problems with the tank and filter, and it looks nice but the cover has about 3/4 inch opening around the middle filter which apparently was enough space for bubba to jump thru.

Yes I have the lid, the inner square is open an leaves about 3/4 inch between the cover and the filter. That is my only guess to how he jumped out. He must've gotten a lucky leap and slid across the top of the lid and onto the counter. Poor little dude. Like I said, I had just seen him before bed swimming around and appeared to be happy.

oh wow, that's extremely unlucky!

sorry for your lost

I had a cherry shrimp that managed to jump out from my tank that has a 5cm gap between lid and glass. Don't ask me how.

 

Unfortunately, some bettas are jumpers. It’s just in their DNA. They know not what they do.
