Betta is hurt!

My aunt put two female bettas together, and they fought. One was fine but the other was beaten up so badly she didn't want it anymore. I adopted it and took it in. She is living in a five gallon tank with a baffled filter and a heater. (Temp is at 78-79 F). There is also a guppy fry in there for her to chase around. She has plenty of shelter and a free open space. She is heavily injured, but seems quite active. She will sometimes mope but sometimes she enjoys chasing the guppy and sitting on a floating plant (her own personal boat). She hasn't eaten anything for the past week until today, when she ate half a pellet. I also saw some weird scared bubbles on the top that wouldn't pop.... Can females build bubble nests? It didn't look like a bubble nest though. It was just a few scattered tiny bubbles here and there.
She is getting a little better, but I'm not sure if I can ensure her living...

By the way,I can't get a bigger tank. Money is tight.

Just keep her water clean, she should recover by herself.

Female bettas are a lot stronger than most people think. When bettas breed, the female is usually beaten up by the end. As for the bubbles, when bettas get air from the surface bubbles can form when their mouths stick out and when they go back down it creates an air pocket. The film on the water surface is usually what keeps the bubble intact.

Okay. Thank you. I might give update posts so people can see if she is actually recovering.I hope she survives through this!

The 5 gallon is fine for the betta, so I don't think anyone is going to say you need to get a bigger tank. I'm guessing once the fry gets bigger, you'll be moving it back into the 20 gallon with the rest of the family. Glad you were willing to take her in. Betta sororities can be difficult to do, and usually you need at least a 20 gallon (bare minimum) to make them work and give enough things to break up line of sight between them to avoid aggression. As mentioned, keep the water clean and keep an eye on her

She ate! Newbie(the betta) ate two pellets today!!!!!! However, I am seeing white spots on her body near her gills and where the poop comes out. What should I do?

There is another white spot on the area where she poops and also on the other side on the same place as this one. (Three dots in all)

Hey guys! Newbie is very active and alittle fat, I guess I got a little too worried about her not eating. I feed her one to two pellets a day, plus some liquefied fish flakes for the shrimps. that she usually takes one or two bites of (mostly water though). She seems interested in everything that goes around outside the tank, and she even follows me around the room! You can still see some redness but most of the scrapes are gone!
