Betta In Tetra Tank?

Tuesday

hey all.
I have a 75 gallon tank.
HEAVILY PLANTED. It’s all tetras. Neons, cardinals, black neons, penguins, Lemon, a couple White Cloud Mountain minnows, and some rasboras sprinkled here and there.
On the bottom we have a few shrimp, Cories, kuhlI loaches, etc. everything is super peaceful, wonderful, great. Star child of a tank.

Okay. So WHAT IF, I put a betta in there? Would everything be good? Should I start with a baby betta? Male? Female?

I've kept male bettas in my 75 with tetras. They were fine together. At least mine were.

From what I've heard, keeping Bettas in a community is dependent on the Betta's personality. One Betta could do just fine in a community, while another might be too aggressive. So if you decide to keep a Betta in the tank, I'd highly suggest having some sort of backup plan that you can put into action quickly if you need to.

But with that warning out of the way, I definitely think that your tank would work well. Large enough that everyone can have plenty of space, and heavily planted for lots of cover. So I think it's worth a try!

My stocking is a little different but tank size is similar. Mines mostly betta but when I do add I have had good luck adding them as babies. As far as male or female the only difference I have noticed is the males stay in their area were the females swim the whole tank. With only one male it may be different however.

Look at the bright side: if the betta doesn't work out, at least it'll be easy to catch and remove. A fast-moving agile aggressive fish might be a nightmare to remove from a heavily-planted tank without messing things up.

Just one suggestion: Since your tank is happy and healthy, running smoothly, no problems...please, please, PLEASE, for your sake and the sake of your other fish...quarantine that betta for a few weeks to make sure you don't bring in some disease.

Everybody should always do this with all new fish, but the bigger your tank, and the more fish you have, the more you have to lose.
