Betta in 40gal+?

Highly thinking about getting a 40 gallon breeder or bigger. Would it be okay to put my betta in a community tank that big? Should I wait till it's more heavily planted or doesn't matter?

Personally, I'm not big on bettas in community tanks.
I know others disagree.

it depends what's in the comunity tank ...... peacful fish like live barrers , tetras , loaches your good but more aggresave like berbs , rasboras, danios and sharks not a good idea in my opinion but they will really like the space they will be verry happy fish

It mostly depends on the betta itself, actually. Some don't care if they have tank mates, while others try to eat or kill anything that moves. Space and tank mates are a very important variable, though.

I live my betta! She's my favorite out of my 3 cherry barbs, 2 Tetras. I've had her since she was about little over half an inch got her for super cheap since she was a baby. I know a lot of people buy theirs fully matured but I wanted to see mine evolve and grow up.
She's nice to all my fishes but she's kind of territorial always inspecting every inch around and between plants. Even once I found a dug up hole under a rock and after staring at that hole for about 5 minutes she popped out!

So I'm picking up a 55 gallon tomorrow and after that's cycled I'm going to put her first with for a few days then slowly add fishes so she gets used to them.

Bettas in communities work but there are many factors that determine if it will work. The temperament of the betta, tank mates, space, etc. Even if she is peaceful now, things may change as the environment shes housed in changes. If you do in fact do a betta community, I would raise your cherry barb school and tetra school to 8+ each in a 55 gal.

My females work just fine in a community-sorority with Endlers, ember tetras and cories. It is really dependent on the fish, though. I'm trying my male halfmoon in a community later this year with the same fish (minus the girl bettas, of course), so we'll see how that one goes.
