Good day, folks. Trying to figure out what my betta has. But first, here's some info about his conditions:
    Tank

What is the water volume of the tank? - 10 gallon
How long has the tank been running? - 5 months
Does it have a filter? - 2 HOB (modified)
Does it have a heater? - basic pre-set tropical temp
What is the water temperature? - 76-78
What is the entire stocking of this tank? (Please list all fish and inverts.) - 1 betta, 7 dwarf emerald rasboras, 10 dwarf brazos crayfish, some snails

    Maintenance
How often do you change the water? - once a week
How much of the water do you change? - 20-40%
What do you use to treat your water? - Fluval aqua plus, API safe coat
Do you vacuum the substrate or just the water? - both

    *Parameters - Very Important
Did you cycle your tank before adding fish? - yes
What do you use to test the water? - API Freshwater Master kit
What are your parameters? We need to know the exact numbers, not just “fine” or “safe”.

    Ammonia: - 0 ppm
    Nitrite: - 0 ppm
Nitrate: - 20-40 ppm (tap water has some nitrates)
    pH: - 7.4

    Feeding
How often do you feed your fish? - once daily
How much do you feed your fish? - enough for the fish to consume for 2-3 mins
What brand of food do you feed your fish? - tetra, aquaticarts.com, aqueon betta pellets, fluval
Do you feed frozen or freeze-dried foods? - yes

    Illness & Symptoms
How long have you had this fish? - 5 months
How long ago did you first notice these symptoms? - may 15th 2019
In a few words, can you explain the symptoms? - redness around the eye, skin erosion, hemorrhaging, lethargic
Have you started any treatment for the illness? - yes
Was your fish physically ill or injured upon purchase? - no
How has its behavior and appearance changed, if at all? - much better now

Explain your emergency situation in detail. (Please give a clear explanation of what is going on, include details from the beginning of the illness leading up to now)
Not really an emergency, trying to figure out what to do next. Treatment for the illness: Removed carbon. First I thought he had some bacterial infection and treated the fish tank with Maracyn (erythromycin) for directed 5 days, but the symptoms didn't go away. Started to research and seemed like it is HITH, so started treating with API General Cure and added VitaChem to the water column and soaking food with Vitachem. It helped, the redness went down, skin erosion stopped, no hemorrhaging, but he has scar tissue (will it dissapear with time or can it be removed?). Keep adding vitamins to his diet and he is back to normal behavior. Just wanted to know if people had it with their bettas and what it is. Thank you. image1.jpegimage2.jpeg
