Why is my betta building bubble nest even tho he has never been introduced to a female betta?

Yeah, males do that when they are mature-even with no females. Some males don't even do it with a female!

It's common for males to make a bubble nest. That is quiet common.

When I had my betta, building bubblenests (and flaring at me :p) was his absolute favorite thing, forget his three betta hammocks, his tunnel, the driftwood, etc. he HAD to work all day on his bubblenest, nothing else was good enough for him. 100% normal for a male betta.

Does it mean he is happy and doing good since he is building? His fins are looking so much better, but the regrowth hasn't pigmented yet.

Some will say that it means they are happy and healthy, others say it is instinctual. It would seem to me that it means he is doing well, as my betta's health declined, he stopped bubblenesting.

I was worried not having a heater or filter for him. Well he has a water wisteria. 500mg of aquarium salt per gallon, spring water and prime betta conditioner.
