Betta Has A Weird Thing Hanging Off Him?

Hello everyone, I noticed today that my male Betta has this weird, gross looking thing hanging from his belly. I know it could maybe just be a weird poop, but I saw that stuff like this could also be parasites? What do you think it is? I feed him round Betta buffet pellets and he’s currently in a 3.5 gallon with filter and heater.
And for the sake of my sanity (I’m a hypochondriac) if it is parasites, can I catch them from him/his water? Thank you!

I don’t know anything about betta’s but it looks like he is grimacing so I’m gonna go with disemboweled.....
