Betta hammock alternatives?

backstory:
So last week my recently-bought radican sword decided to come out of the substrate and float. I got some plant pots and decided to wait till my next WC to plant it since it would be easier with the water level lowered.

Since then my betta has fallen in love with it and his favorite spot is to sit on the leaf of the plant near the surface.

Previously he would sit on a sunken portion of airline tubing I have around my red root floaters, but he was never completely comfortable there and wouldn’t sit for long or would constantly readjust himself.

I have tried both floating silk and plastic plants, both of which were rejected. I think they just don’t offer the same support or comfort as the radican sword, which has large broad leaves and thick stems.

I have an old betta hammock, and though it’s not the same as a radican sword, I think if I attach silk-plant leaves to make it wider and more supportive, he might like it. The only issue is that the wire that supports the plastic leaf has rusted completely, making it unusable.

Issue:
I do have aquarium sealant I could use to cover the rust, but I’m afraid the rust would leech into the tank. If I removed the wire completely, is there something else I could use in the hammock to allow it to be secure?

Do you have room for some water wisteria? My betta can usually be found resting in the crowns of mine.

Tall plants are great for bettas or clumps of plants that freely float around the tank. Also I believe some people use the floating betta logs. That’s a couple options.

I have tried elodea, cambomba, and water wisteria before but they didn’t do well. The elodea faired the best then died off in the summer.

As for tall plants, I was hoping the radican would provide that once it grew

There are some taller species of anubias that are prefect for resting. I believe the one I have is Anubias barteri.

I do have Anubias, he doesn’t seem to like them though. I think they are too waxy for his liking. I guess that sword is either very comfortable or he’s a picky fish.
He also seems to have moved on from that spot and found a new spot behind a driftwood log.. he’s always preferred the bottom of the tank so I was surprised that he sat on the sword in the first place. Funny how fish get bored with things very quickly. Except food, of course

My bettas have all preferred the floating logs to the hammock.

Hmm.. might get one for my shrimp too..
Does it always float or will it sink once waterlogged?
It will sink BUT you can take a zip tie, strong glue, and a suction cup and stick it to the tank. It worked great for me.

I use the zoomed betta log. It floats by itself and isn’t real wood, but it looks completely real, especially if you let some algae grow on it. My betta loves his log and it’s his “comfort” place. My ADF also loves it and I sometimes catch my betta and frog “snuggling” in it.

edit: figured I should add a picture

You can see it floating in the upper right hand corner

I don't know if this is relevant or what you are asking, but my boy loves this clump of (fake) ivy when it is either wrapped around something (like driftwood, near the surface) or stuck to the wall with a suction cup (also near the surface). It offers plenty of resting options and different levels of "support", and different angles depending on the current or what he wants to look at.
