I think I need a little more advice on a kinda specific issue: my betta looks like he’s getting bloated.
This little guy is new and I’m new to owning bettas or any kind of fish and I want to do it right, I’d hate for my betta to be unhappy.
So: he’s been in his tank for about a week and a half now and has adjusted well, is growing fast, and is very playful. His behaviour hasn’t changed at all but just today I fed him and then noticed he looks a bit bloated. I know that’s not good and now I feel bad about over feeding him (it won’t happen again I swear). He also looks like he’s been trying to poo for a little bit now.
First of all I was wondering how long it would take him to poo?
Then if he doesn’t, if I should fast him or just feed him a pea?
And if I can feed him a pea, am I able to do that later today?
My water temp is good and I have a test kit for my water and it’s great, the issue is definitly that I’m over feeding him (which I won’t anymore) I just want to know what I can do about it so he’s not uncomfortable for too long.
Sorry for the long post guys I’m just quite desperate for my betta to be happy!

You can do boiled peas and take the shells out of the peas.

You can also just not feed him for a week and see how that works out.

If I wanted to feed him a pea but I fed him right before I noticed the bloating, is it ok to feed him the pea today?
Also thank you for the reply

I would wait a few days and not feed him. Fish can live weeks w/o food. So I say not feed him for a week and see how he is.
