Just an update for all you betta lovers on my Green HM spawn. The fry are doing well. Last time a counted them was when I moved them to the 20 gallon tank for growout and there were 37 of them! They are starting to get a little colour but you can't see it in the pictures.

They're cute little fry. I'm curious how many eggs the spawn produced. Wish we were closer, i'd love to get a green HM but hopefully will be breeding some betta sp. mahachaI before too long.

Yes ill keep you guys updated. I have seperated one alredy to see if I can make him/her grow faster. He/her is showing red which is very odd.... I hope they will loose this soon.

that fry may end up a copper.. I believe that's possible with 2 green parents. any breeders that can verify this?

Very nice! At what age will you have to separate male and female? With most fry the bigger the amount of waterto a smaller ratio of fry the faster they will grow. There is some theory about fry secreting a growth inhibitor. If this is true (and I think it is) water changes and large tanks would dilute this inhibitor and allow the fry to grow faster.

Yes the best way to make your fish grow is a lot of water, cleen water and lots of food.

they're adorable! how many have made it? we have 11 mahachaI fry now that are almost 2 weeks old. (we lost a majority to a crazy problem we didn't think of until it was too late.) how old are your baby bettas now?

Aw, very cute.Good idea with the mason jars to separate them. Good inexpensive way to do it. I'm sure they will get bigger in time. Aslong as they remain healthy that's what matters.Natalie

what's their diet now? how big did they get before you starting feeding foods other than BBS? are they all doing pretty well, health-wise? how big are the parents?

The breder I got them from had problems growing the parents out also.. so it may be genetics. I fed microworms, bbs, a powdered food, and now they get freez dried blood worms and mushed up peas. Soon to be adding shrimp to it.
They are all healthy

I was curious if you've tried egg yolk with them? i'm hoping to get vinegar eel cultures before our next spawn and microworms would be cool too. (Do you have any links/info on the microworms production?)

sounds like your little ones are happy and doing well. they're coming along well, given their lines, and you'll have some real beauties in this spawn. Best of luck with them all and we'll look forward to new pics whenever they're posted.

where are you located? I know a few breeders in the US that you could pick up from or ship to.
