Betta flaring?

Hello guys, I’m worried about my betta flaring a lot for the past 2-3 days. I’ve had him for 5 months, he flared every once in a while but not that often, I added a nerite snail a week ago, he did flare at him the first day but he left him alone after that. I’m quite sure he sees his reflection and thats why he’s flaring but I have changed nothing in his tank ever since I got him so I’m not sure why he’s realizing his reflection just now. How do I prevent him flaring almost all the time? He stopped when I turned the lights off but I have plants I cant keep lights off all the time

I know how stressful this can be! This happened with my Betta too when I got him in a glass tank after acrylic. What stopped it for him was moving the tank. He was in the middle of the room by another big tank, now he's on a shelf in a doorless closet. It stays pretty dark besides his light over there, I also have another light just beside him I turn on for fry and it doesn't seem to cast reflections either. But it is above his lid somewhat.

Before I had moved his tank, I got the advice just to leave him be and let him figure it out. He did eventually, but it was a new experience every day it seemed lol. Like he would forget when he slept and would wake up to his old nemesis back for another round, and cramping his style yet again, shocker

My betta used to bite his tail for two months and he stopped a while ago after I added a lot of plants so Im worried the stress from flaring will make him bite his tail again. Unfortunately I’m unable to move his tank anywhere else, I’m a student living in a one room apartment (literally, my kitchen, bedroom and living room are all one room), so he has to stay where he is. Do you maybe have any other suggestions? Or should I leave him to figure it our himself?

Are you able to locate the tank somewhere that has light or patterned background for him? Dark backgrounds and walls are much more reflective, like seeing yourself in a dark window at night. You could actually think of it the same as when you're in a car or room with the light on and dark outside and you look out a window, it's the exact same. So adding a light outside of his tank on the problem sides would help along with the lighter colours.

You said you just planted it as well? I ended up kind of making a big ring of plants on all sides but the front, java moss is really good for that too cause you can just stuff it wherever and it blocks the view

His tank has a background (its a blue background with plants on it and stuff), thats where he sees himself. But the background came with the tank so I think I cant remove it. As for plants, I added them around two months ago, they are mostly blocking the view besides this spot around the heater (he tends to rest on the heater and then see himself). Maybe I should remove the heater? Im not sure
