If its hunger...I just feed him 2x a day with 3 to 6 pellets ....he consumed it within a minute like I don't want to put more I'm afraid he would get sick of overfeeding..as he will eat everything...

Yeah, that's gotta be from himself. The fact that it's high up on his fins and the lower parts are unaffected prove it.

I doubt it's hunger then

actually let me rephrase... it definitely is not hunger.

Okay....so do u advice me to get the tetra starter thingy...like for the new 5.5 gal then I just started to cycle it with fish food for 3 days today... so when it is stable I can transfer him there and do the cycling again from the start with the betta tank without him there...

About the water change for now... still 2x a week with 25%? What if there's nitrites again and I'm not scheduled till my next water change.... sorry for all the queries...and thank you very much for being there to answer me

I'd just keep the nitrites down, checking them every day, doing water changes at your own discretion. Tetra safestart plus takes a week or two to cycle the tank, and you can't do water changes that whole time, and you have to dose the tank with ammonia somehow every day.

Okay...I'm doing the fishless cycle with fish food on the new tank... if I get the tetra safe thing...can I just put it in the ongoing fishless cycle?

If I get the tetra safe can I just throw all the water from the new tabk and clean then restart the process? If it will take 2 weeks then maybe it will be faster than cycling in the betta tank...so when I'm done with the new tank I can just put my betta there...

I'd leave the old tank alone, as it is starting to cycle at this point, but the safestart will accelerate the process you are already doing on the new tank. How is the flow on the betta tank? If it is too high it is possible that the flow is stressing the betta out, because bettas are poor swimmers and like calm water.

I put it to the mildest flow as there is a seitch from the filter that comes with the top fin starter kit... and id try puting a cut plastic bottle as have the flow directed to the side of the aquarium but then he is like enjoying playing swimming on the flow like he keeps on coming back to it ..is that bad?

No, that's fine. As long as he isn't going near the intake. He probably just likes to swim in the current a little.

I see...hes not going near the intake.... hes swimming in the outflow current... I also put silk plants on the intake part as what ive read before from some posts here...

That's good, I'd try and get him in good quality water asap to see if the behavior stops there. It looks like we've gotten to the bottom of the fin damage, so that's good, the question now is how to stop it.

Thank you for walking this things with me... yup and its not those tetras which all died.... and so now for the faster cycling of the new tank... I need the tetra safe and the liquid ammonia? Ill just add it to the ongoing process of the new tank then stop with the fish food and do the liquid ammonia? How would you know how much liquid ammonia to put

You could continue with the food, that doses the tank with ammonia as well, it's just messier.
