Hello everyone, I’m here asking help for one of my betta. I have been keeping betta for 3-4 years now but have never had this issue before. To start off, my betta is doing well as normal in his 10g tank with 100% lives plants and heaters. I have him since June. For about 1-2 months now that he has his fin split like in the picture and I still haven’t seen anything grow back at all. In my past experiences, by doing a good water changes and almond leaf, my betta always grows their fins back within a week or so but this one shows no grow and split even more. Also, there’s a white spot at where his fin split like I circle in the picture so I wanna know why. He also has a white spot on his back fin and when I look closely at that area, the scale look like it’s melting or in the process of growing back? I’m confused as to what is he having issue with. If you have any experience with this issue before, I would be appreciated it if you can share it with me.

He white spot looks maybe fungal, maybe possible spot of color change, can't really tell. No clue on that fin split. Maybe nipping own fins, but that is usually on the tail in my experiences.

It looks like early columnaris. Columnaris is associated with mostly poor water quality. It will also grow on exposed wounds or flesh.
Do you vacuum your gravel?
Treat with (opinion based on experience) API fin & body, water changes, almond leaves, and aquarium salt. I also might suggest API bettafix. In my experience, these treatments worked perfectly. I have never had any issues with API, though that may differ in others experiences.
I may be wrong, but look up columnaris, and how it occurs. It looks exactly similar.
Perhaps this helped!
Edit: He may also have just got his tail caught, or scratched. If you have any tight spaces or sharp objects, the exposed wounds seem to just be growing fungus or bacteria. Treatment is the same though.

I think I’m gonna try with aquarium salt first and then maybe bettafix. Can you recommend the type of salt you used? There’s nth sharp in his tank as I mentioned it is 100% lives plants.

The aquarium salt is API aquarium salt, and bettafix is also API bettafix. It's good to know that there is nothing sharp in the tank. It could be fin-nipping as said above, so just keep an eye on him. :D

Thank you. I’m thinking the same as well since it something that happened in one day a month ago. However, I will try treating him with aquarium salt just to help his fin growths or treat any disease he may have as you mentioned above I think it’s columnaris too.
