Hello,
Couple of months ago I got a betta splendens,he is in a 5.6gallon planted tank. The tank has two sponge filters and one submersible power filter. He had popeye off the store, but he is so beautiful I couldn't resist and I bought him. His popeye hasn't cured yet ,I tried using ampicillin and epsom salt but it didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can try the HikarI Betta Revive or the API BettaFix but be careful when using them. But if nothing else works you can certainly give them a try. I'm not sure if HikarI has the Betta medicine in LPS like Petsmart or Petco but I think that the API BettaFix does, I just ordered mine from amazon. Make sure to change your bettas water and pick out any poop/leftover foods. Would not hurt at all to put some aquarium salt too. Make sure to dissolve the salt before putting it in so it won't burn your betta. Sounds like your betta has had popeye for a while, Good Luck!

Thanks , I read somewhere about using maracyn or ampicilin alongwith epsom salt baths. I will try giving epsom salt baths for a week if that doesn't work then I'll get the medications. Thanks for your response

No problem! I think with all medication and the maracyn/ampicillin can be harmful to the bettas body but as long you follow directions and do it in moderation you should be fine, good luck!

Popeye is from a bacterial infection. Don't waste your money on Bettafix - it's just diluted tea tree oil and pretty much useless. Will definitely be useless in this case since the antibiotic didn't work and Bettafix is a weaker, all natural treatment. I've seen Maracyn 2 recommended. Not sure about the Betta Revive though.

The betta revive I have used before, and really works well in most cases. I heard the bettafix can be harmful, but I haven't used that before. Some of my friends says it really works.
