He's with nerite snail and a bunch of Malaysian trumpet snails. I'm just confused why he'll eat the New Life Spectrum pellets I give him, but he ignores the fruit flies.Any tankmates? What are the water parameters? If you have no reason to suspect illness, it's possible he is just stressed and getting used to his new home.
Maybe he is stressed in some way? Is the tank cycled? What is the temp? I would give him a day or two and try again.I just got my Butterfly Betta yesterday. He's been swimming around well and has been eating well too. BUT the only problem is that he won't eat LIVE food! I will drop a couple flightless fruit flies in the tank and he'll go right up to them and then ignore them. This is a little bit weird to me because all the bettas I've had in the past have eaten the live food I give them in SECONDS.

So do you think it's really just his preference? So you're saying some Bettas just won't eat certain foods because they're picky?I had a betta that would only eat a certain kind of flakes. He wouldn't touch pellets, black worms, shrimp, scuds, etc.
