Betta Fish Marbling Colour Or Bloodshot Fins?

I got this betta in December as a young white/celophane betta. Over the months his fins have grown and developed some dark red markings. I would like confirmation if it is just his colour marbling or if there is a problem.

He acts normal, always begging for food and is very active. I've tested the water and everything is normal.

The only thing that is abnormal about him is that he has never flared his gills in the 3 months I've had him.(don't know if this is a problem, I presume he's just docile for a betta fish. ) Also he was labeled as a female and was in a tank with 15 or so female bettas when I bought him.

Anyway I'm going off topic, here are some pictures 1 when I first got him and 3 more recent photos.

So is it just marbling or is there something wrong?

Have you held a mirror up for the fish to see if it flares ?

Nope, he looks great! They change color as they get older and they grow larger. My Male was blue with a little red on all fins, and small. He is now one of the biggest Betta's I have ever seen (other than a King) and I think he is a King hybrid and he isn't done growing yet.

You have a Beautiful guy... keep up the good work!

Yeah I've tried it but it doesn't change how he acts.

That's marbling for sure. A lot of the time when you buy bettas they are around 6-8 months old, they are considered an adult at this age and have their full colorations and tails. However, they are still growing and their bodies and fins will sometimes change colors.

Definitely just coloration, and a very beautiful pattern to be honest!
