Betta Fish Is Bloated.

My female betta is bloated. Her scales are sticking out and she isn't swimming much. Her colour is off too, kinda yellowish instead of purple. I tried giving her peeled peas but she isn't eating it. I did a water change recently. What can I do?
The only other thing I can think of is that there are a lot of detritus worms in there. My swordtail recently died suddenly. I don't want to lose my last fish.

Your betta might have dropsy, which is a terrible (similar to fish cancer). now don't jump to any conclusions until you get a few more opinions and maybe some pictures could help us know what's up. REMEMBER DONT JUMP START DUMPING MEDICATIONS!

Hope this helps, remember time is of the essence photos, photos, photos!

Could you post pictures, and btw, when a fish has dropsy it is fatal nearly always, it is best to euthanize, all of my dropsy fish died

I can't see anything from the pictures. But if you say that her scales are raised, then it's dropsy. The most common one is bacterial dropsy and you should act fast and start treating with Kanaplex and doing Epsom salt baths with unscented epsom salt (1tbsp per gallon) for 10-15 minutes depending on severity in a separate container. How long had she been like this and how long has she shown any behavioral symptoms?

I think I only really noticed how bad it was a couple of days ago. I put in the peas hoping it would help the bloating to go down but nothing....

Peas don't help with bacterial infections because that's for constipation bloating and this is probably something bacterial, so peas would do nothing. If her scales are super raised, I would consider euthanasia because she would be too far gone even with proper medication. You gotta catch it early for the highest chance of survival.

Dropsy is the worst, I have had it multiple times in my own bettas, if you can't bring your self to euthanize than I would float her near the top of the tank and maybe try a few medications, but most won't work, dropsy is horrible, and a tough break.
