Help!
I don’t know what is wrong with my betta… I originally thought it was fin rot. This is my first betta, but I did a ton of research ahead of time. I’ve had him since 2019 October.
He lives in a ten gallon tank with 3 ghosties and a gold Inca snail, he leaves them alone.

Hi, and Welcome to Fishlore! :)

So sorry about your betta baby!

I am posting a link to the emergency template below. Please copy and paste it into a reply, and fill in the anwers to those questions. The more info we have, the better the advice that members can give.

Aquatic Emergency Template

Are you referring to that pinkish fleshy part that I see in the 2nd pic? Is that an open wound? Or are you referring to the lump in his body next to it?

That's where his swim bladder is. It's normal for them to have a slight bulge right there. There's an issue when they become bloated, begin to swell with fluid, or have trouble swimming or floating. If he is still eating well, and moving well, and has no other symptoms, he is probably ok.

You have had him for over 2 years. If you add a few months to that (depending on how old he was when you got him), he could be about 2 and a half years old, or a little older. He is basically approaching senior citizen status, so you may notice some changes in his behavior and appearance as he ages.

He's a pretty little boy! I love yellow veil tales. They are my absolute favorite betta!
