My betta fish had always been hanging out at the top of my tank for a month, and was doing fine, from what I could see. All of a sudden, one week, he started to stop swimming around and just sat at the top of my rock which was next to the surface. I didn't see anything wrong with him and my parameters were fine, amon 0, nitrate 0, so I ignored the problem. All of a sudden, he died and now I see that he had columnaris after looking on the forum.
Should I be worried of columnaris in my future fish in the tank? Does it stick around, and if so, how do I get rid of it?
