Betta fish and black neon tetras

Hello everyone I currently have a 20 gallon with a school of 10 black neon tetras. I love them and how they swim about, but I’m looking for a nice centerpiece fish and I was thinking of a nice betta fish. I’ve done some research and seen that it could be ok but thought I’d post it here and see if any one has advice, tips or personal stories with them together thanks!
Also enjoy this pic of my school of black neon tetras

Tetras tend to be fin nippers, so if you're wanting a long finned Betta, that could be very problematic- the Betta would too slow to get away from the tetras due to the weight of his fins, and because of the long colourful fins the tetras could easily do the Betta very serious damage. If you got a Plakat betta with shorter fins, it would probably be able to move fast enough to avoid being nipped, but you still might have a problem with fin-nipping.

Possibly you could consider something like a Honey Gourami or a group of Sparkling Gouramis instead?

It completely depends on the bettas personality. My sister put black neons with her betta and he killed them all within about a day. It was quite tragic.

Like lilirose said, I had trouble with my neons going after my betta. My betta was entirely neutral towards them but I caught them nipping his fins regularly. Maybe in a large enough school the tetras wouldn't pick on him though

Hmm I guess I didn’t really think about the reverse of the tetras being a problem for the betta that’s actually something to think about.
