Betta finrot salt treatments

Hello I have recently saved a betta fish from a store where he was sitting in his own poop and old food. I noticed he was suffering from some mild to minor fin rot and looked very dull when I took him home I put him into one gallon of fresh water heated water and the next morning he was looking a bit better. His fins still looking bad but he looked hopeful. I started the slt water treatment to help cure his fin rot the treatments supposed to last a week but he’s been in there five days and I’m worried. His finrot hasn’t gotten worse I think it’s better but he started shedding these long wispy strings of what looks like slime or his slime coat coming off his fins and looks like his gills. Should I be worried ? I was going to finish the treatment in a couple days and put him into a cycled 3.5 gallon heated tank but maybe I should stop the salt treatments now and put him in the new 3.5 gal tank. I treated one other betta for finrot the same way and he didn’t have the same slime stuff falling off so idk if it’s normal or is I should be worried.

Those fins don't look too terrible of shape. Maybe try without the salt for a few days?

I just did his water change without salt in it and he looks a bit clamped up and like he’s having some trouble breathing maybe I hope he’s okay and the fresh water didn’t shock him too much I turned his lights off and I’ll see how he looks in the morning I hope he does ok

I would move him over to the cycled 3.5 gallon tank asap, that way you can just do WCs every couple of days for the fin rot instead of a 100% WC daily, which would be incredibly stressful for him. He's likely clamping his fins because of the stress from the huge WCs and constantly being moved around.

He’s looking better today I’ll definitely put him into the 3.5 gallon as soon as I can it’s just at 82 degrees Fahrenheit and I wanna get it a smaller heater to keep it at a steady 77- 80
