Betta fin tore, now fungal infection

Hi everyone, haven't been on here in a while. One of my bettas recently got a small tear in their fin, it has turned into a fungal infection. small fuzzy brown patch on the tear and not healing, it is getting worse. Water parameters are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrate, don't know what the nitrite is. It is a 10g heated and planted tank with 10 or so pygmy corydoras and the betta. I am wondering if I should do a SeaChem kanaplex treatment or try a salt dip daily until I see improvements. I don't want to expose my cory cats to unnecessary meds. Thanks!

You have anything you could use as a hospital tank?
I do have a 5g cycled tank i was just about to tear down. There was a betta in there that just passed, he was a little over 4 years old but didn't look great when he died. I am worried he had a disease or something and I don't want this current betta to catch anything. It has been empty for about a week now.

Understand that hesitation. Gonna say, if you had a smaller tank to treat with no fish in it besides the betta, would be best off. Know what the tear came from?

How recently did you get the cories? If you didn't add anything from outside (live food included), it usually is an environmental issue. If you set the temp to the cory's comfort, that might be low for the betta. Increase it, and throw in some leaves. Can try melafix, apparently it is a tree extract which would serve a similar purpose (antifungal/softener).

Im gonna go ahead and put him in the empty tank, just keep an eye on him and go from there. I'm not sure where the tear came from. He's been in the tank, same set up, for almost a year now and this is the first issue I've had. He's got short fins so he must have wedged himself somewhere.

I got the corys within the same month I got the betta and everything, almost a year ago. Temp has been 76-78 consistently. I think I am going to move the betta to a smaller temporary tank for now. Thank you for your input!

Do you have anything sharp in the tank? It could be him just nipping them, which causes an infection.

Nothing sharp. No fake plants and the drift wood is smooth. He may be nipping at them but I have not seem him do that, I also don't know if he can reach his fins. I feel like he got wedged somewhere and thats how it ripped , he's pretty nosy and adventurous.

Oh. I hope he'll heal up soon. I don't know much about meds, but 50% daily water changes will be efficient.

Aquarium salt, kanaplex, neoplex, seachem focus, and imagitarium bacterial infection remedy. I just started him on kanaplex. Now that he's out of the big tank and i can see him better, the wound is pretty bad . Really hoping I see improvements in 24 hours.

, kanaplex can kill corydoras. Corydoras are sensitive to it.

Don't worry, I moved the betta to a 5g hospital tank! His permanent tank/the cory tank is med free! Thanks for letting me know that, did not know corys are sensitive to kanaplex.
