Betta Fin rot meds

So ive tried daily water changes, aquarium salt, rooibos tea and even lifeguard which says it helps with fin rot tho it seemed to only make it worse. At first his fins were starting to heal then all the sudden it came back with a vengeance. So now I'm thinking I need to try a medication. Anyone have any recommendations on things they have used that theyve had success with? Preferably something I can get at the store. If petco doesn't shut down due to the virus I'm thinking of downgrading his 15gal tall tank to a 5 or 10 gal tank (depending on which tank fits the lid I already have) since the 15gal is a tall and I think he may prefer a more shallow tank. Anyway, I saw apI fin and body cure, also erythromycin that online says works for fin rot but id like to know what u guys have used since I'm on a very limited budget and I don't want to buy somethin and it not work. Thanks

For me salt always worked. But I would put the fish in a qt tank. Usually took around 14days to a month to clean it up. Most fin rot is do to water conditions or another fish attacking it. Water conditions first. Clean water keeps it away.

Well hes a new betta and I figured having clean water would help to but it hasnt, been almost 3 weeks. Also hes in a tank all by himself so id consider that quarantine already. Ive done aquarium salt for 10 days, 1 tsp per gal, changing out about 5gal per day or every 2 days (have to let water sit out 24 hrs since the ph is different. His fins did start to heal then they got a lot worse 2 days ago. Ill continue salt and water changes but I need a med just in case it keeps gettin worse...

Do you have any pictures of your betta so we could see the details of the fin rot? A picture of the tank may not hurt either, it may also be tail bitting or snagging in the tank. I'm not great at troubleshooting fin issues but some pics may help.

Sorry I’m not a betta keeper. Many on here are and putting betta in the heading will get you more people. To me bettas allways have problems. Your doing everything right so it’s got to be something with the fish.

Well hes from petsmart and was in rough shape from the get go so I'm sure hes not the most healthy, its frustrating to take him out of that crappy situation thinking clean water and a bigger tank would help but its not. Tho his attitude and behavior have improved tons. Thanks for ur help tho.

Well if he looks good besides his fins he probably is good and may be best to let him be. Remember he was in a jar there and now he’s in a bigger tank with a filter. May just be the filter is shredding his fins some. Try putting something in front of the flow to spread it around. Some put a sponge in front.

I did baffle the filter already thanks tho! I'm just nervous if I let him b then itll get to a point of no return. Hopefully not!

I still think you need to add betta to your thread title.

I have the same issue. Its gotton worse but using Furan-2 has helped him with his energy and popeyes he was suffering from prior. I don't see regrowth yet (5 days of treatment per box and today is the 1st day after) but overall seems healthier and happier.
