Hey, can you please help me identify my female? She’s nine months old and I think she’s a veiltail but I’m not sure... want me to send a picture?
Btw is there a special type of scale that turns fluorescent when in direct light? That’s what happens with my fish.... #nofilters with the picture

Here, she was being good and let me catch her shape...

Hey guys! I see an egg spot so I’m pretty sure my betta fish Pita Chip is a girl. Still, why is she so pretty? I need confirmation sexing it it’s because my eyes might be playing tricks on me. She’s nine months old. First photo is current, second is when she was a baby...

Hey guys, also, I usually have her in a 2.5 gallon tank, shown in the baby picture, but I’m at a summer home for a month and my other tank couldn’t fit. We bought a 1.7 gallon for her to stay in, hence current picture, and I hope that will be alright for a while? She likes it as far a I can tell.

PitaChip Yes she is a girl. Female Bettas are still very colorful and pretty.
As far as tank size goes, even 2.5 is pretty small (some people say it's the minimum for a betta, while others will say 5g). 1.7 is definitely very small, so not ideal, but if that's all you can get for the month, then just make sure everything else is perfect for your fish (temp, water parameters, filter). She should be fine in the 1.7 but I'm sure she'll be much happier and energetic in something bigger.

Yes she does look to be a veiltail. Scales that change colours depending on the light are iridescent scales.

PitaChip If you need help on something create your own thread so that the topic on the other person's thread isn't changed and doesn't get messy.

Yeah, I know 2.5 should be the minimum, We are looking into getting a 5 gallon for the fall, thanks for the advice!
