Betta color change?

Hi, I recently got a new betta after our beloved betta passed. He’s beautiful and adjusted great! He was royal blue with this most awesome white outline.
Well today I woke up and went to go say hi as it’s our morning ritual and his outline is black! I have never seen thing happen. He is acting fine! Full of energy zooming around the tank and eating well. Is this normal? I’ve attached photos of the day I got him with the white outline (excuse his gross trap he lived in from petco please) and then pictures from this morning for reference. I hope this is normal and he’s okay.

It’s normal for bettas to change color. But just to be sure what size tank is he in? And is it cycled? Water parameters?

Yup it is pretty normal for bettas to change colors.
