Betta chin lump

Hi all, wondering if anyone has any input into what this could be on my betta’s chin. It’s like a lump or bulge in between his gills. Showed up a few months ago and has grown slowly but has stayed pretty much the same for about a month. He is still acting normal and feisty, eats great (betta pellets, bug bites, daphnia). He’s in a 5-gal filtered tank set at 78F. Ammonia 0, nitrate<5, nitrite 0, ph 7.

Likely a small tumor. Unfortunately they're very common in bettas due to their poor genetics. Not much you can do about it other than keep an eye on it. If it starts affecting his ability to move around you may want to consider lowering the water level and adding more things for him to rest on.

It might be a small tumor. Bettas do get those. There's really nothing that you can do for them. Just keep a close eye out to see if anything changes.

Looks a lot like a tumor. Not much you can do really. Sounds like it isn't really affecting him, though!

Thanks for the responses, yeah I was worried about some type of tumor. I even got a boring veil tail in the hopes he might be less inbred! But he seems happy at the moment and that’s what matters

I came here looking for this specific problem. My guy is blue with a black head and he just developed a bump on his chin in the last few days. He's a very active guy so I haven't seen any change in his mobility. He has seemed a bit "jumpy" lately. Im giving him a 1 hour Paraguard dip just as a first line of defense. Do let us know if you find out anything.
