Betta changed colour

I'm assuming this is a good thing, but I wanted to check. I bought him yesterday, and he was the prettiest shade of teal that I've ever seen. Got him home, gave him 1/2 gallon of conditioned water with some plants, sand and a tunnel

Now he's a teal/blue....a gorgeous royal shade, and he's built a bubble nest

He's very social, coming to the glass every time I walk over to him, and showing off his abilities to sweep though plant leaves lol

Well first that's quite a small tank I'd recommend getting him at least a 5 gallon when you can with a heater and a filter (you can diy a sponge filter) and second, he likely changed color because he was stressed in his tiny store cup and bored and such but now he has so much to look at and explore that he's happy

Agree with above.

Your tank (while nice) is a tad to small for a betta. Some say 5 gallon is a minimum, but if you keep up with water parameters you can do a 3. I'd go with the 5 for the ease of up keep over anything smaller. This also lets your betta have lots of room to swim and hide and play.

The color change is completely normal. A lot of things can change the way a betta looks color wise. Sickness, health, stress, etc. Usually when a betta goes from a paler to a brighter and richer color, it means they're happier!

I believe OP has another thread where she mentions that she has a bigger tank cycling for the betta. Very pretty!

Yes, I'm working on a bigger tank as we speak. A neighbor has a ten, and is checking it for leaks. Failing that, I have leads on three separate offers for ten gallon tanks in my city for good prices. I'm going out again I'm the morning to follow one of those.

I am aiming specially for a ten gallon because I have a filter on my 29 gallon tank, ready to go. I have also priced two different heaters, depending on the tank I get, and he's got a 7day feeder so that I don't have to worry about children over feeding him

I'm doing partial water changes with prime daily to keep up his cleanliness in the bowl

Yep, this looks totally natural! Notice how the colors look more vivid and alive? That's because those colors are showing how he feels, vivid and alive!

He looks beautiful, good job!
