Betta and Dwarf Crayfish?

yes, they try...but like I said, they aren't as successful. I am sure they wouldn't be able to uproot anything or move ornaments around like the larger crayfish. But they will cause damage to the plants leaves with their pinchers. That's all I am saying. Its a gamble really.

my favorite was when I had a pregnant dwarf female. Once inch in size. She lived in a tank with black diamond sand blasting sand. She would sit there and grab a few grains of sand at a time until she built a huge pile of sand in front of her cave.

But again....you are not getting a cambarellus diminutus if it is 3 inches.

I know...it is not 3 inches sorry...

fishbruh u can try shrimps that fun/

I like crays cuz there sorta like lobsters, but shrimps are just small, are the any bigger shrimp that would fit in the aqueon bettabow 5.0?

Would the dwarf mexican orange cray fit in the aqueon betta bow 5.0, with a replaced filter and a heater?

Absolutely! 5 gallons is plenty for an orange dwarf crayfish!

Edit: and I personally never have had a dwarf crayfish escape and I've had a lot of them! Since I was breeding them. Lol

Edit: I guess tank size is up for debate. I personally think if it's just one single dwarf crayfish and nothing else 5 gallons is good...but bigger is always better

nope.

u get the 10 g 1 or 2 bamboo shrimps will be cool!

as for the escaping...

if u provide the best then it would not escape...

I still wanna try the crayfish anyways but next month when my dad is gonna reward me if I even won the piano competition...

and really, a glass top is fine...

I had never have a fish escaping my tank...yu[p

Well, my 10 gallon doesent have a top and it has a bad filter, the filter is a quietflow 10 HOB and the heater is a preset aqueon, I got it all from a friend. The bettabow 5.0 comes with a top and a really bad filter and I like the look of it, I would replace it with a small 10w aqueon preset and a submersible tetra whisper 10i, and would put plants and sand on the bottom, maybe some MTS not sure how it would work out with a cray

Might I suggest getting a vampire shrimp? I know it's not exactly what you were looking for, but they are extremely peaceful and quite fun to watch. Although you would want more than one preferably, as they are shy and they like to be around company that they can relate to.

  • #53
agree.

I am NOT trying the method any more. aqua phobia has experienced the pain already, The" community safe crayfish" got HAlF OF THE FINS OUT OF THE POOR BETTA!

they are NOT good for communities..

Some betta fish like the hammocks some don't. My females sleeps on hers, but she also enjoys sleeping on the bottom by the plants, and in the pineapple decoration.

Basically you could do the crayfishes, just not with the betta.

or

You could do the betta fish and neritie snails and/or ghost shrimp.

It's up to you.

You could possibly do some ghost shrimp, just keep in mind not all Bettas like shrimp some see them as purely food lol. Ghost shrimp are large enough though, that many Bettas can tolerate them.

Numbers?

What should I replace the filter with?

clk89
  • #61

I would say 3-5 ghost shrimp along with your nerite snails and betta.

I don't know much about filters. I kind of prefer sponge filters.

FishBruh12
  • #62
Lol would I be able to fit a sponge filter, how would I set it up

clk89
  • #63
They do make sponge filters for ten gallons. I use glass lids that have an area you can cut into for the tubing.

FishBruh12
  • #64
How do you setup sponge filters?

Nvm, what's a replacement filter I could use? Should I use the preset aqueon 10w heater?

clk89
  • #65
With sponge filters you use aquarium tubing to connect it to an air pump.

The Aqueon would work fine, if need be you can always baffle it if the current is too strong.

How many nerite snails? Should I do 3 or 5 ghost shrimp? What aqueon internal filter?

thepianoguy
  • #67
aqua clear is the best filter u wanna get. but if u want aqueon 10I internal filter.

2 netrite snails

5 ghosts

and
1 betta. hope this helps!

FishBruh12
  • #68
Do you think the default filter will be able to keep up?

thepianoguy
  • #69
not really...

if u HAVE a STRONG colony of bbs than no worry.

FishBruh12
  • #70
I'm gonna use TSS+ with it, well tonight I'm ordering the tank, when it comes ima go to petco, get sand, plants etc. when I order the tank maybe ill get the internal with it

thepianoguy
  • #71
okay.

just going to say that u can also use soil caped with gravel which works better and (walstad method? THE BEST!!!) cost less... with WAY BETTER PLANT GROWTH>

FishBruh12
  • #72
How would I do that, and how much gph is suitable

thepianoguy
  • #73
for 5 gallon, 10I is good enough.

so basically u dump in some ORGANIC soil, than spread out the gravels EVENLY not leaving a hole of the soil, than get out the big pieces when u dump the water, and slowly it will clears up a few days after.

  • #74
Whats the 10i? The tetra? What internal is good enough?!?!

thepianoguy
  • #75
okay I got confused, sorry.

for the best thing u wanna do, a sponge filter.

or 10I because aqua clear 20 is a bit too strong for a 5

  • #76
