Betta and African Dwarf Frog

Hello!

I have two 2.5-gallon tanks in my bedroom. Both had one of my Betta Fish and an African Dwarf Frog. One of my Bettas passed away a week and a half ago so one tank just has a frog in it. My thriving Betta tends to overeat. If there is food, he will eat it. Since African Dwarf Frogs are so docile, the one paired with my Betta doesn't eat very much.

My question is, would it be overly crowded to have both African Dwarf frogs in the same tank with the Betta and just move the frogs to a "Feeding tank" to ensure that they eat? I just want to 1) ensure that my frogs eat properly and 2) not have my other frog be so lonely.

Please let me know your thoughts on this!

Have a wonderful day!

2.5gal is too small for both frogs and a Betta. Frogs are known for nipping of bettas fins and causing fin rot. I wouldn't house them togethers unless you have a 20gal or so

Neither frog has nipped at Bettas. What would you suggest that I do to ensure that the frog eats?

thank you

You can buy food thats made to sink right away instead of float and having other fish eating it first

But i wouldnt have any other invert/fish/frogs with a betta in a tiny 2.5gal.. theres not much room in that . It can cause unnecessary stress on the poor guy

Doesn't matter, the tank is too small for them and they should be spot fed brine shrimp to ensure they eat. If they aren't in a stressful environment they will usually eat. Take not eating as a sign he is stressed and not happy. He needs to be moved to a bigger tank with less aggressive fish. Next time do your research.

I tend to over-feed because I'm afraid the ADFs aren't getting enough food. It seems the bettas (male or female) eat food faster. In the end, I believe it's healthier to keep ADFs in their own tank. I believe they have a good sense of smell, probably because of poor eyesight.

I would separate the frogs from the bettas along with the issues already mentioned frogs are also social so they like having more of their own kind. a 2.5g is really too small even for just them but I would pick that over a 2.5g with a betta any day.
