Betta A Lot Worse And Need Help With Medication!

So I’ve posted about this before, and here’s a quick summary, betta got fin rot, people recommended water changes, then I asked again because water changes weren’t helping, got told to use methylene blue, and now I can’t figure out how I should use it. And I posted about him getting worse but the posts got merged, I tried posting about how I needed help on the merged post, and no one responded. And so now I’m here. He’s also way worse. He will float for HOURS and I have to gently touch his fin sometimes to see if he is dead or not. He hasn’t eaten in over a week. He ignores any food I place it his tank. I really need some more help..

Tank Info-
3.5 gallons
Filtered
Cycled
Heated to 78*F
Params- 0,0,Less than 10
One Mystery Snail as a tankmate
One live plant

Any help is VERY appreciated!!!!!

P.S. I caught him floating on his side yesterday morning.. I feel like he is going to die any day now..

I have never used methylene blue moon self but a friend has. She swears the best method is to net the fish and dab it on the areas with a Q-tip and then put the fish back into the water. I wish I had more experience to offer you. Good luck!

At this point it might be best to euthanize him, I’m sorry to say

It sounds like he has swim bladder disease. Fasting him for a couple days and then feeding him cooked peas can help, but it isn't always curable. Raise the water temperature to 80-82 degrees. Also, I find that aquarium salt works better than most "medications" and doesn't kill any of your beneficial bacteria, so maybe try that instead of the meds.

I woke up this morning, and he is SO out of it! His back is bent when he swims and he just freaks out and swims all over the place, and then he goes limp and floats down to the bottom. He’s lost almost all of his color also, and it doesn’t even seem like he has control over himself.. I’m wondering if I should euthanize him..

I'm sorry to say it but that sounds like the most humane thing to do at this point. Clove oil is the best way to do it peacefully, if you're familiar with that. It's easy to blame yourself when something goes wrong with your fish, but it's clear you've made your efforts in saving him and that's all you can do. Good luck and in the case that you do decide to euthanize him, I'm sorry for the loss.

I agree.. it’s time to put him out of his misery. I’m so sorry. Please use clove oil and vodka.

I'm so sorry you are going through this!

Sadly, it sounds like he had several things wrong, not just one thing. He might also be older than you think; if he was full grown when you got him this is possible.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything you can do for him except maybe humanely end his suffering. I don't even know if you can make him comfortable at this point.

Yeah.. Well, I tried. I’ll see if I can get some clove oil tonight. How much should I use? Should I gradually add it? Also, thanks to everyone for trying to help me out. Unfortunately this will probably be my last betta. I haven’t had any luck really. But I need to find something to hold my Snail in.. I don’t think I want to keep the tank running for only a snail.. can I put him in a large bowl without a filter but do twice a week water changes? It would have my live plant and Marimo moss ball also, I just need to find something because I’m afraid the snail has so little of a bioload that I’ll lose the cycle... sorry for so many questions this is my first time “packing up” after loosing a betta. This is my second one, my first one most likely broke his neck by ramming into my tank wall, and I don’t really like going through all the “drama” that I’ve gone through. And again, thank you to EVERYONE who has helped me on this forum! With Toby, (First betta) And now Eclipse, (Second). You guys have helped me SO much.

Understandable that you don't want to go through this again.

You asked about how to use clove oil - Here's a good video on that topic

Getting another variety of snail and keeping the aquarium as just a planted/invertebrate setup might be nice--I have terrestrial snails and find them very soothing to watch.
Again, very sorry for your experiences, and I understand where you're at. You have all my support.

Just looked at him, he’s pine coning!! The scales all over his body are raised. I just went out also and couldn’t find ANY clove oil, any other way I could euthanize him without clove oil or alcohol? I feel REALLY bad for him!!!! And, I probably will convert it into a shrimp tank. Most likely cherry.

Do you have any "natural" stores in your area (like Whole Foods, etc). If your grocery store has a natural remedies section, they usually stick it there as well, if they carry it. If you CAN'T find it, from what I've seen the next best option is to put them in a cup with shallow water, and pour ice-cold water in. The shock will kill him quickly :/

Okay, I guess I’ll have to try to ice water one.. It’s pretty late where I live now. I feel SO bad doing this, but he looks like he’s in so much pain.

I poured the water in right after I posted, and he’s still alive... he has a HUGE grey stripe along his body and I feel even more terrible about him suffering!!!!!!! How long does it take for him to pass????

So sorry you and your little betta are going through this You did everything you could for him and I’m sure your little guy loves you for it. My last betta suffered from Dropsy and he had it for maybe a week or a little less before passing. Hopefully yours will go out peacefully. Best of luck.

if he's still alive, and if you can, put him in a ziploc bag and step on his head really hard. it's gross but it's an instant death. I had to do it for my frog :/ I didn't trust any other methods. i'm really sorry about your betta.
