Best Website To Buy Shrimp?

I used to recommend Aquatic Arts to everyone. I have not had good luck with them as of late. When they started out they were in-home breeders like some of the people we have here. They expanded to try to meet demands for other fish and are now ordering in. My first order was sizable, Fish and plants, when they arrived they came in a Seacrest Farms box. The mailing lable to them from Seacrest was still on the box on the inside flap. If I wanted to buy from Seacrest Farms, I would go to PetCo or Petsmart. I would certainly not be paying their exhortation shipping cost. (Not one of those fish survived over a year) My second order was shrimp during their Relocation Sale, several deaths...I was almost out of shrimp. I went to Aquabids for dream blues, that tank is going gangbusters. (To clarify, after the fish loses, I went on aquabids and ordered the same fish. These were not new tank set ups either. My Aquabid fish have been great.)

My first batch of cherry shrimp was from Aquatic Arts. They ended up having scutariella which while not fatal is still a huge pain. Ended up buying my next batch of Neos from Flip Aquatics. Had 2 DOAs but Rob always packs extra shrimp and there were even new babies in my bag. No sign of scutariella or dreaded ellobiopsidae.

My next shrimp will probably come from BuyPetShrimp.com, looking for some nice-looking Taiwan Bees.

Oh my gosh seacrest farms?! Mine was a normal priority mail box... But none the less, all those shrimp from that order has passed.
Wanting for those ones to be mainly just a bad order, I ordered a bunch more in hopes that I will have luck with them... Now I'm worried it will just be a waste :/
One of the four cherry is still alive (female) two of the neon yellow are still alive (male) The neon yellows are clear I can tell them apart from the amanos because of the size. Very disappointing. The babies the cherry has had (about 10 survived to good size but with the moss, hard to tell, there could be more) are all clear colored. I thought they would gain color but so far nothing. She is berried again. I wanted red, not clear. The intense yellow that they show in the pictures would have been fine. Not even close. With the dream blues that I obviously had to pay more for, that was a dense tank but I saw three dead within the span of a few weeks. I immediately order from some guy on Aquabid who had really good feedback. Haven't seen a dead one. The tank babies are now too many to count. I guess for you, my Aquatic Arts shrimp tank is still alive, but I hate it. No color, no interest. I won't order this time of year, but if FishAreFriends24 still has reds in the spring, I think I'll go that way. Good luck! Maybe something has changed.

KimberlyG that's how my cherry babies ended up, very low grade with no color. Granted I don't cull my shrimp, but definitely disappointing.

Dang.
I was really expecting better. I was sent 14 yellows and ordered 10, all are dead now.
I got my dream blues from ebay, not aquatic arts pretty sure, we have quite a few of those left, and my lfs now sells them too.
I was hoping to possibly breed the rilis I'm getting for my lfs... Doubt that will happen.
At least I'll have free expensive fish food..
I'm hoping their CPO craws are better than their neon yellow shrimps.
Some of mine were a white color, I lost at least 4 within the first week, the last three were probably all eaten by my betta.
They're were mostly good quality aside from the deaths.
Really hoping this isn't a bust.

Maybe I'll have to look into different options in the future...

I don't cull shrimp either. They are for my own personal enjoyment. I'm a bit of a weirdo myself so I probably would have been culled if it was legal. I just leave them alone and let them do their thing. (Don't hate the tank as much now since I added ember tetras. I had to do something)

Haven't purchased them myself but I got a recommendation from someone in person the other day for shrimp from theshrimpfarm.com. She had purchased them from there and was very happy with what she received.

Only thing I worry about with them is they do use RO water so acclimation might be an issue if you are running tap. I just looked up their site for RCS and Id prefer US shrimp instead of imports but they say their US shrimp are less colored and I wouldnt want that, but I don't want imports either...uggghh.
I totally recommend Flip Aquatics. That's where I buy all my shrimp and they're always healthy and colorful. I overdo the acclimation sometimes just to be sure. Since I use tap, I usually acclimate for 3-4 hours lol. I've never had a problem afterwards

Hey everyone, what PH is ideal for RCS? And how can I get a little Nitrate in there naturally? PH is at 7.4 currently and nitrate is at 0ppm can I add fish food? I started this tank on 11/2/18

I would not add shrimp to an immature tank. richie.p should be able to give you some advice.

You need to cycle the tank and let it mature for around a month. Adding nitrates won't cycle your tank.

I would not add them to a tank that's not cycled I was just wondering how to get it to cycle. I took media from my 5 gallon and put it in the shrimp tank

So just leave it be? I added media from my cycled 5 gallon to the 10 gallon

If you only started your tank on the 11/2 I wouldn't contemplate putting shrimp in for at least 8 weeks firstly the tank needs to be fully cycled and second biofilm needs to build in the tank, all to often I see this then they add shrimp a week later they are dying and start blaming everything excpt the obvious and that's putting them in early resulting in moult issues, ammonia and nitrite problems due to being in patient as the tank is just not ready, I agree with others a lot of the time that RCS are hardy but when it comes to having the right tank setup they are as fragile as any other shrimp, be patient do it right or it could be an expensive learning curve

I'd still give it a month to let biofilm and algae build up. You can hold the cycle with some snails.

Thank you, that's what I needed to know. I don't believe I can order until spring safely anyways as I live in the north east of the US
