Best Website To Buy Shrimp?

Title pretty much explains it but ive been looking around for a decent bidding or sales website and haven't had much luck. I'm trying to find some good blues or other interesting, bold colors to add to my 10gal shrimp tank.

Also id like some input on what I can mix in with red cherrys and crystal reds.

Pleas and thank you!

Check out Rachel O'Leary on ytube, she has shrimp and is reliable and the price is right. I've bought amano shrimp from her. I believe her website is called msjinksd.com

Amazon. I still can't believe that they apply their awesome shipping policy on live shrimp, but they do.

You can't mix any other shrimp with cherries and crystals other than ghost shrimp and amano shrimp. You could, however, get Mexican dwarf crayfish.

Are you also aware of the level of care and money needed to take care of caridina shrimp? Crystals especially, they need next to perfect parameters in order to be healthy and breeding. If you're still new to shrimp keeping, I suggest you just get some cheap (but just as satisfying to take care of) cherry shrimp until you have a solid generation of experience (getting a unberried, unsaddled female to breed and hatch shrimplets, then raising those shrimplets until they also produce shrimplets. That's one generation of experience) before trying to care for caridina species. This is for the life of the shrimp.

I've heard of lots of people getting sick shrimp from Aquatic Arts. Google it and you'll see what I mean.

I just placed an order with SoShrimp and had really good results. You should also check out Aquabid, which is like the ebay of the aquarium world. I recently joined the Facebook group USA Freshwater Shrimp and Plants and there are a ton of amazing breeders on there.

Thank you for the tips, ive been through a couple gens of the cherrys and do tank checks at least every other week. I have some crystals now that are doing excellent with 2 berried females that look like theyll pop any day.

Don't they ship to the US? I've seen reviews from people in the continental US. That's where I was planning to get mine from, although, I'll look through some of these as well.

None of my local stores have them and I've got the tank all set up and ready. Don't mind waiting longer I'm just tired of calling stores and asking if they have them and being denied. I've never ordered live animals online before so I want to get from the very best. A picture of the 10 gallon set up attached.

I love the set up. I actually just started to cycle my 10 gallon aquarium and I'm planning on a RCS tank. I seem to be in the same boat with my LFS. I'll be watching this thread close.

There is a thread here called "Shrimp for Sale" in the buy sell trade free forum. You could check that out. They have cherries and dream blues I believe.
Other than that, I got real nice shrimp off of Aquabid. Make sure you research the seller and read all feed back.

Check out Flip Aquatics. They have USA bred shrimp, which are usually hardier but poorer colored, and they have imported shrimp, which are higher grade. The imported shrimp are quarantined for a month before being sold, which really reduces the chance of disease like ellobiopsidae that I've seen coming from other online sellers.

I got my shrimp from Mcasella and they are beautiful dark red healthy juvenile RCS (even the males). But I believe (and she can verify this or not) she stops shipping in Nov due to cold weather.

I'm in a similar boat. There's hardly ever more than 1 or 2 at my LFS, and then I've noticed the genetics of those are pretty sickly and color wise too (poor coloring but priced as a better grade). Whoever you end up going with, I'd love to see an update here to see your experience with them

Not to dampen the dry the boat, I've got mixed feelings on them.
But I still order.

They have good quality, but I've noticed people having a few issues with their product as of late, be it deaths in transport or deaths after added to personal tanks.
I bought 2 kinds of shrimp, blue and neon yellow, all the yellow passed within a month, the blue are still going strong.
Right now I've got 5 shrimps colors, 2 devil spike snails, and a pair of CPO crayfish shipping.

Most people recommend them, and they're always very good quality.
Technically cheaper for me to order the shrimp online than purchase in store.

Yeah, I haven't bought shrimp from them, but I did buy smooth and horned bumble bee nerites and 5 were horned and the one smooth has a damaged shell, but is ok. Their customer service is pretty good tho, but I wouldnt buy from anyone else now but Mcasella. Her stock of RCS she sent me is so lovely, I wouldnt want to ruin it with less quality stock. Lol. Shes gonna kill me for keep sending her shoutouts, lol.

I'd recommend Flip Aquatics. He does a 30 day quarantine on all shrimp he sells to ensure only the healthiest, disease-free shrimp are sold.

I'd love to order, was thinking about it, went through the list and saw a few things I thought about getting.
Loaches, plecos, plants.
Loaches sold though, and I don't have space for a pleco if it turns out I have two males and no female.
Plants I've been really debating. Getting those from MD_Plants. Been thinking about ordering more just cause, but Aquatic arts is having some sales right now.

15OFF gets you 15 off a $200 order

25OFF is only available until the 14th and is 25% off everything for their black friday sale

NEWSLETTER10 gets you 10% off for signing up to their newsletter.

I also found out, if you've adopted a child, are a teacher or have adopted an animal recently, then they'll give you in store credit! Pretty cool!
I only spent 140 instead of $200 on my order of shrimps and crays.

I know I know! I'm cray-z.
I do know some of their quality does vary, but they also sell "B-grade" for a lot of things, which are just inverts missing claws or legs that will grow back.

I hope my snail shells come in okay!!!

Only thing I worry about with them is they do use RO water so acclimation might be an issue if you are running tap. I just looked up their site for RCS and Id prefer US shrimp instead of imports but they say their US shrimp are less colored and I wouldnt want that, but I don't want imports either...uggghh.

They use RO remineralized to ideal Neocaridina conditions, and they even list the parameters of what they keep their shrimp at.

Yep, US shrimp are hardier but lack the deep, rich color of imports. You could always cull and selectively breed your own shrimp, but it's important to remember that the shrimp hobby has been around in Asia and even Western Europe for a lot longer than in the US. They have product lines and professional facilities dedicated to the keeping and breeding of colorful, high quality shrimp in Taiwan, Japan, China, Germany, and Singapore.

Yeah, guess I'm just a bit paranoid about it...if they trust them, I should too. And they do quarantine...

I purchased 2 strains from FishRFriendz and Mcasella
Great sellers, Highly recommend.
Oh, by the way. Good looking tank.
Good Luck!
Thanks so much!

Thanks!

I used to recommend Aquatic Arts to everyone. I have not had good luck with them as of late. When they started out they were in-home breeders like some of the people we have here. They expanded to try to meet demands for other fish and are now ordering in. My first order was sizable, Fish and plants, when they arrived they came in a Seacrest Farms box. The mailing lable to them from Seacrest was still on the box on the inside flap. If I wanted to buy from Seacrest Farms, I would go to PetCo or Petsmart. I would certainly not be paying their exhortation shipping cost. (Not one of those fish survived over a year) My second order was shrimp during their Relocation Sale, several deaths...I was almost out of shrimp. I went to Aquabids for dream blues, that tank is going gangbusters. (To clarify, after the fish loses, I went on aquabids and ordered the same fish. These were not new tank set ups either. My Aquabid fish have been great.)

Oh my gosh seacrest farms?! Mine was a normal priority mail box... But none the less, all those shrimp from that order has passed.
Wanting for those ones to be mainly just a bad order, I ordered a bunch more in hopes that I will have luck with them... Now I'm worried it will just be a waste :/
