Hey Guys! I'm still new here, so I apologize if this isn't the right forum to post this question--if it isn't, can someone point me to the right forum?
An amazing opportunity arose for me to get my hands on a 300 gallon tank! I'm picking it up tomorrow with about 8 friends!
Filtration that's coming with the 300 gallon: a 90 gallon sump system, 2 FX6 Canister filters (I think the seller mentioned he was originally not planning on making use of the Sump System?)
The Sump system has an intake at the back left corner, and the outtake at the back right corner--would I need a power head in the tank to avoid dead spots?
Will I need the canister filters if I'm utilizing the 90 gallon sump? I imagine that'd be a bit overkill, wouldn't it? If I should still use the canister filters, where should I put their intakes and outtakes?
My other tank (a 125 gallon) came with a single FX6 Canister filter that's been performing swimmingly, so I haven't really looked into sumps all that much as it wasn't really an option or necessity with the opportunity that came with the 125gal--can anyone point me to a really good resource to research sumps and the best way to set them up? (Any important tips to bear in mind as well that may seem obvious to an experienced aquarist?)
If anyone's curious as to how I plan on stocking it: I'll be moving my three bala sharks and getting an additional two to round out a nice school of five Bala Sharks, two oscar fish, one fire eel, and one bichir!
