Best way to move established tank.

I have a 10gal tank with my betta in it and I just got a new stand so that he can go in the other room. What is the best way to move the whole set up? I'd like to completely drain it and clean everything but I don't want to ruin the cycle.

The bacteria for your cycle is mostly in the filter. Keep the media wet, in tank water, during the move. Drain water, save about half for refill. Clean tank walls and gravel (not too well) , return to tank and put water back in. The filter should be back on as soon as possible, I'd shoot for within the hour so the bacteria doesn't die off.

If it helps at all, I moved my fish over the weekend from a 45 to a 125. Used half the water, gently vacuumed the sand and of course kept all my media wet from my HOB filter until my fluval canister was ready to go. Tested 3 days later and my ammonia was 0, nitrites 0 and nitrates 10. It went perfectly from such a huge change. You should be fine.

Last year, I moved my 10 gallon aquarium by withdrawing a three fourth of water and then refill it, and it work well.
