Best Site To Buy Plants

What websites do you all use to buy plants? My LFS sucks and that leaves just Petco and petsmart which also suck with plants! I see a lot of plant websites but I don't know which ones are good. I also don’t want to spend a lot in shipping! Anything over 10 is too much IMO!

I just want basic beginner plants that are fine in low light and don’t need. CO2!
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated!

trinsfish is a good source. I've also used aquaticarts, liquidcreations, aquarium plants, and even ebay. you can also check the BSTF section of the forum. I've gotten a lot of plants, and fish, from there.

I ordered a beginner pack from buceplant.com, I also have heard Amazon is a good place and I ordered Dragon stone and other supplies from aquarium plants

I have also ordered from Hansaquatics. I've ordered from so many places I can't remember them all.

As mentioned "Trinsfish" (Quality and Quantity never been disappointed)
and the "BTSF" thread here:
Buy, Sell, Trade, Free
(Don't tell anyone but I may be offering some very soon)
Good Luck!

When I purchased from Trinsfish, I found the experience to be “meh”. The plant I ordered had several dead leaves, which could possibly be from shipping, but overall the quality was just a bit underwhelming. I also purchased shrimp and one of the ones they sent me was ridiculously small and way under the size they promise to send. Kind of iffy if I’d purchase from them again.
I’ve ordered plants from planted aquariums central however and they were really great. Good quality and if I remember correctly, fast shipping. I’d reccomend them over trinsfish from my experiences.

Do you use Aquabid.com? I've only ever purchased plants from there, as I find that buying from the 'little guys' adds a personal touch and better quality plants. A lot of sellers do free shipping deals that end up giving you super reasonable prices.

Keep in mind we're also going into a time of year when it gets harder to ship plants--my most recent batch, from a very respectable seller, struggled a lot as it suddenly hit 90 degrees for multiple days while they were in transit. That's hard to overcome for even the best, most careful sellers.

Buceplant, Han Aquatics, Glass Aqua are all great and you'll be able to find some less common plants as well.

Hello. I am interested in finding some good sites to try and find some live plants that I can grow into my tanks, any suggestions? I have tried amazon and they don't have much. Any help? Thanks.

ebay, dustinfishtanks . I find dustinfishtanks tend to give the most extra and largest plants, aquarium-coop is ok, ebay - i've had the best luck with the sellers in new jersey but with you being in montanna you might try some of the ones in california.

All of them seem to come with snails.

Thank you Jake, I appreciate your information. Just wondering, would decor such as drift wood and pebbles also be from those types of sites?

Our members sell quality plants on the BST forum. In particular I'd recommend Vishaquatics

I highly recommend Marcus Fish Tanks. I've spoken to him personally and he's so easy to work with. He's even thrown in some extra plants and I always get a discount code as well.
But really his plants are beautiful and I've never gotten a bad plant.

I just bought from Modern Aquarium. They shipped at an inopportune time, so I did a water change in my gold fish tank an just floated them in the bucket for 4 days. I finally got to plant them, and they all survived and are looking great.

Vishaquatics always does right by his customers. That Fish Place has good discounts when you buy multiple plants and 2 day shipping. They even called when some plants I ordered were not doing well in the holding tank and gave me options on what I could do. I picked what was best for me and they said it was not a problem. Will update when they come in.

You should try Jacob's Aquarium. Their plants are healthy and prices are cheap. I haven't run into snails on their plants yet (they don't guarantee their plants to be pest free). The only drawback is that some of the plant bunches have fewer stems than seller like aquarium co-op.

Dustin's Fish Tanks and Aquatic Arts have done well for me. Aquarium Co-Op plants all melted and never recovered. Perhaps my water is too different from theirs?

I always buy mine off of AquariumPlants.com. Usually come decently sized and I typically haven't had any die-off. I did get snails from them once though.

Hello there, I have looked at old threads on best places to order plants but the newest I found was 2018. I dont have enough posts to order plants from here yet. So Im wondering, what are some good places to order plants from? Of course I like reasonable prices. My LFS has background plants but I want some carpeting plants. Thanks for your suggestions.

Honestly, if you cannot get something at your LFS, ebay is a darn good place to get plants or from our sponsors & Bst

I like to support the LFS if you can, but if the plants are bad, its hard to do that sometimes...

Everything I have ordered off of ebay has come in nice, normally under 10$ and free shipping. I actually just ordered Bolbitis heudelotii for 10.59$ out the door. Free shipping.

I highly recommend that you consider Marcus Fish Tanks! They have really great prices on plants as well as shipping ($5 for 2-3 day shipping). They are super nice, give you extra plants with your order, and sell large, healthy plants. I strongly advise that you check them out and I'm sure that a bunch of other forum members can back up my statements.

I can back this up. You usually get around 2 extra plants depending on what they are

I too will say Aquarium CoOp if you live in the US. If you live in western Washington just go visit them, but be prepared for a long line, they're popular and always busy.

Yup I vote MarcusFishtanks too!
Also Aquarium Co-op - more pricey but beautiful plants. I recently made a Red Root Floater purchase on ETSY from WittAquatics & they tripled in size & grew 2 inch long roots in 1 week!!! Unbelievable!
I did order some pretty Great plants through Dustin's Fishtanks as well-- but had a really terrible customer service issue recently. (Damaged plants, overcharge, said they would resolve it and never did) I've probably made several purchases through Marcus, great prices on plants, accessories, fertz, shipping, and 100% excellent customer service, when I first started experimenting with live plants he answered every single one of my (probably very annoying) E-mails haha.

This is great info thank you! I am shopping right now. I've come to realize the plants are just as important to me as the fish!

They really are! It's a great feeling, ditching the plastic plants, and creating your own aquascape. Do dome research on beginner plants, and start easy, I've melted & killed my fair share in the beginning, after a few months when you see new growth, it's a nice little sense of achievement to have an underwater garden! (Edit; oop sorry maybe your not a beginner)

I also am saying Marcus Fish Tanks! I have ordered 2x and everything comes well each time! He gives extra plants and all come in super healthy. If you use the code 10 OFF on his website you get 10% off!

No worries, I guess I'm not a beginner but like you, I have killed and melted a few plants. I read quite a bit about it and realized my best success is when the plant was already growing in water. The "tissue" culture type situations die on me. I have a ton of water wisteria mainly. I actually have to throw some of it away weekly. Easiest plant ever. So I'm looking to branch out in my plant collection. Unlike fish, it seems you can always squeeze another plant in the mix.

What did you end up getting?!
I really love MarcusFishtanks, I had one Anubis Barteri come with a hole in the bag 2 orders ago, it dried up & died on me, and on my most recent order he send Me a big replacement & some freebies!

What did you end up getting?!

Red root floaters
Monte Carlo
Cryptocoryne Wendtii Red
Dwarf Sagittaria Subulata

All were small but healthy and obviously grown in an aquatic situation. I had several extras. The Monte Carlo was a little droopy but looks good now. I have never grown any but I'm excited to try. I should have took an unboxed picture. But they are all in various spots in the aquarium now.
Somehow I posted that like you said it but you get the idea.
Oh and I got the Red Root floater idea from you.
