This will be my first on line purchase for substrate and wondering if anyone can give me choices of where to look. Cheapest I found was $24.00 (I'm filling a 55 gal tank) Is there a ratio of cheaper ways to mix with river pebbles? ($4 for 25 lbs at local hardware store been using it for years). Any suggestions appreciated.;D

If you need to order online, try a few different stores and put however many bags you need in your cart and make sure to have it show your total including shipping. When I ordered my bags of sand, some stores charged more than $5 less per bag than what I paid, but it ended up being more way expensive because they were charging ridiculous prices for shipping.

I've done a 50/50 mix of eco and natural colored gravel and it was a nice look IMO. My plants did great in the mixed substrate in a 55 with 2x 65W PC lighting.

Well appears most ratios that work are 50/50 or higher so I'll probably go with a 60/40 mix. Now to find it!

petsolutions.com seems to be the cheapest with shipping too.

Depending on your area the tax+shipping is varied. You will need to input your area code to including the shipping cost.

Good luck!
