Im looking for a plant that doesn't grow super fast (Duckweed) or super slow (Marimo moss ball). I was planning on getting a plant that could grow over the back of a big clam shell (top only) and also grow over the edge (to give the 'cave' look). Also, I dont have a problem with cutting it when it gets to long, it just has to agree with that :)
I was looking at pearlmoss, would this plant work?

If you are looking for a moss type...my favorites are christmas, willow and peacock.

    Have you looked in Anubias?

I was looking for something that has long separated individual strands that can grow going straight down. Is there anything like that, moss or not?
