Best lighting option for my fish! Night time fish during the day.

So, I'm running an aqueon 20Long with full aqueon hood and light. Currently it has the stock standard fluorescent white bulb. I have a young BN who is shy during the day as expected and he shares his tank with a few Danios. I was thinking of getting a blue bulb to replace the white one. My thinking is that it would let me see in the tank and offer light for the danios, but it would be a leas bright light, which will make my pleco more active. He is adjusting to the bright light, but I wonder if it would benefit him to change it. I also don't want to discomfort my danios. Any light suggestions?

Honestly, if you put more decorations for hiding or some top cover plants, I think your pleco will come out more. As for the blue light, I think normal light and a "daytime/nighttime" rountine are best for the fish. So I don't know if I'd change it.

lol Your cat is watching your fish XD

If it's a dark room you could offset the fishes rhythm. Keep a timer so the fish thinks it's daytime at night and night time during the day. Monterrey Bay Aquarium had luck with this method to allow patrons so see nocturnal fish. I believe they used a dI'm blue or red light to illuminate the tanks.

My BN is so small he currently has tons of hiding spots. Idk where he goes sometimes.. He vanishes for hours. Only comes out to eat lol. Lights on at 7:45 AM and on all day until 9-10pm I feed the danios at liggts on and off. Pleco gets a fresh cucumber nightly and it comes out in the morning. He has drift wood (was added after that pic. And cleans up the danios scraps daily. They have a good routine, just wish he was out more.

The cat loves watching

I had an albino BN he was tiny at first so he hid constantly, one he got about 4"+ he started hanging out more in the open. I know someone even trained one of their plecos to eat directly out of their hand. He probably just has to get more comfortable with the environment (and bigger).

He is TINY. Lol

He is less striped. They are breaking up into classic spots now. I guess that means he grew a little.. Still tiny.

Your tank looks great! That's funny that your cat watches the fish. Mine hardly pay attention.

Only notices if I'm looking too lol. Feeding time the danios go nuts and she likes watching. The pleco bugs her sometimes when it wiggles along the glass lol. She mews at it. I showed her the water and lid when I set it up to keep curiosity down. She doesn't bug it

Thanks by the way!! It being near the window I'm surprised algae doesn't bloom! Lol stays pretty clear until roughly Sat. Then I do a 30% change

Yeah, mine grew pretty quick. In about 4 maybe 5 months he was about 4-4.5" (I got him when he was 1.25-1.5")
