I’m starting up a 50 gallon saltwater tank. What’s the best lighting to keep macro algae’s alive? No corals are going in the tank, just algae like dragons breath macro algae.
Also looking more towards the cheap end of the spectrum.

I can tell you from personal experience that the Beamswork double brite - the one with the 3W LED's - will grow macro...including and especially dragons breath...
But be warned...anything that will grow macro will also grow micro! I had a reef tank with that light on it for a while, it grew everything...macro, coral, GHA, cyano...
Very curious to know more about your proposed setup?

I’m setting up a tank for my new spider decorator crab. She’s in a 10 gallon tank now with some mollies and hermit crabs. I also made a decoration out of pvc pipe and shells so it’ll look like a tidal pool like area. Corals are a bit too pricy so I’m sticking with macro algae. If I happen to find some corals under like 10 dollars I’ll try them out tho.
