So last night (i had headlamp) i went to my lake to catch some fish and ghost shrimp, Specifically some least killifish but when i was catching them i managed to catch 5 least killifish fry (3 male, 2 female) and i added them in my tank with my other 2 male least killifish fry. When i was about to head back i saw something smooth and somewhat bluish hiding in the rocks So i put my net in front of the rocks and before i knew it i had caught a Sailfin Molly, Put it in my 36 gal and is very social, exploring the tank and swimming through the plants. The least killifish fry formed a colony of 7 (minus 2 mature female), i will feed them brine shrimp (About to have an explosion of brine shrimp). Any thoughts or suggestions?
Just thought i should share my night time fishing adventure?
Note: I am well over my tanks capacity (gets to the best of us no matter what) and I haven’t had a single Amonnia spike since early September. All fish are healthy and happy and i know how to deal with parasite and fungus (especially ich).
extra note: When i was catching fish with my net (through thick patches of floating hornwort and lake weeds) i caught an abundance of small fish and fry (barely any grownup fish at all). I guess at night the small fish go to the surface while the bigger fish stay at the bottom.
fun fact: Sailfin mollies are the only native molly in all of north america.
