Best filter for a 2G Cube shrimp nursery ?

Hi guys,

I have 2 tanks at the moment and they don't allow me to breed shrimps cause my fish eat the babies. So i wanted to set up a 2G cube to accomplish this. My local pet store is recommending a Aquaclear 20+filter sponge, but i'm not sure if this would be overkill or not (And the filter stem is a bit long and id have to make some modification to it to fit it)? My other thought was a small sponge filter, but not sure because this would take up a lot of room in the tank and also distract from the look i am going for.

I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions ?

Just to note, i would this to be a small show piece tank on my desk at home. I will have Stratum, small piece of wood and plant it.

I agree that filter will be overkill yet its good and flow can be reduced,
I'd be looking at the same hang on the back but smaller

Seems like aquaclear 20 is the smallest model.

If you don't want to use a sponge filter that will likely be your best option. Be sure to cover the intake with a sponge or something or the shrimp will get sucked into the filter.

Thanks guys. i went with the AquaClear 20 and got a sponge for the spout. Ended getting a 2.5 gallon and it fits well!
