Best commercial food for snails?

I would love to make snail jello for my Mysteries but I'm just not that keen on being in the kitchen! I do give them a selection of fresh veggies and also throw in the occasional sinking wafer (usually contains spirulina & seafood protein) but comparing ingredients I find that they're all different. I used to give Top Fin Algae Thins to my ramshorns and they brought the snails running! Now that I have a Pleco I give Omega One Veggie Rounds because I think they're a healthier choice.

What prepared foods do you buy for your Mystery (or other) snails?

Mine don't really eat the veggie wafers that I give my pleco, but they flock to the veggies I throw in daily. Not big fans of the carnivore pellets either, though they're there daily as an option for them (since my cories and pleco eat them slowly).

Omega One wafers are the best that I know of. I also feed them my aquarium plants lol (Apple Snails) They also get some of the flake food (Any snails at the top of the tank resting sense that there's flake food at the surface and will flip upside down like a vacuum and suck up the flakes from under the water surface) I also supplement with different green organic veggies; collard greens and kale are a favorite.

You can always buy from other's online who make custom wafers that are almost 100% spirulina, which is what I want to try next.

Do you blanch the leafy greens before adding them? My Mystery snails don't touch my plants thankfully, not even if they're dead:-\

Sometimes I do, it helps hold them down and makes it softer. But Apple Snails have a big radula that destroys most any plant easily so I'm not to worried about it. It keeps them entertained for longer lol.

I feed fresh veggies, goldfish food, algae wafers, and sinking shrimp pellets. They are omnivores so should get some shrimp/fish as well as veggies or algae. Goldfish food is great to add to their diet because it's high in calcium and contains fish as well as veggies. I wouldn't only feed them that though. I do algae wafter in the morning and shrimp pellets and goldfish food at night.

I do offer sinking shrimp pellets! I'll have to look into goldfish food. Would koi pellets work do you think?

I feed them (and my shrimp) those veggie rounds too. Plus Omega One sinking shrimp pellets and zucchini/summer squash.

Aquaphobia- the koi pellets would be fine for some variety but wouldn't do more than what you are already doing. Check the percentages on the back for protein and stuff and see if calcium is there and if it is it would be a great addition. I go to the store and pick the goldfish food that has the highest calcium percentage.

Neither my shrimp pellets or my algae wafers have any calcium percentage on them. Also it's hilarious to watch them suck up the flakes. I call them "the worlds mushiest vacuum" when they do it. They love the flakes more than any other food I give. To put them in I take a pinch and hold it under the water (still pinched in my fingers) and then I let go after a second so they're not floating around getting sucked in my filter, they just sink.

^me too. I debated putting it but then I didn't because it's not really a food source. More of a calcium source they snack on when they feel like it.

Mine like snail jello cucumbers I also toss my clam shell remains after my puffer eats them. I feed mine the omega one shrimp pellets and algae wafers the occasional tums.

I forgot that I also use the Marineland shrimp wafers.

As you can see my cat really liked them too. -_-

Didn't see it mentioned in the list yet, so I'll add blood worms in. I use the freeze dried ones on occasion, and they absolutely love them. Typically if they are awake (and sometimes they'll wake up for them), they'll be up at the top of the tank almost immediately once the blood worms are in the water, trying to figure out how to get one from the surface.

Alright! Decisions have been made, and not the ones I'd intended to make, but that's life;D

I was sent an e-coupon for PetSmart and I mapped out my shopping excursion beforehand since I planned to stop in after work and I just wanted to get home and look in on my little babies Turned out, PetSmart was out of what I had intended to buy! So I spent oodles of time there comparing labels and ingredients and in the end I chose Nutrafin Bug Bites Pleco Formula.

I had to spend a minimum amount of money to use the coupon though so I also picked up more cuttlebone (the best deal on it was in the reptile section where it was called Sepia Bone for some reason???) and a large bottle of Prime. That bottle is now sitting next to the other large bottle of Prime which I also bought to fill out a minimum amount for a previous coupon and which is also not open yet because I'm still working my way through a third large bottle! Oh well, at least I have some in case of emergency
